edit: ya named the thread wrong wasn't thinking
would it hurt or effect the backups made by clockwork mod if i changed the name of them from dates to something that would allow me to more easily remember when they were made

As long as you do not add a space, they should pass the MD5 check.

for example, for my backups, i have :

"Stock.with.root"
"fission.2.4.3"

Nope, doesn't affect it at all. I always change the name to something that helps me remember.

I usually name them with: "date.ROM.kernel"

So like "1.3.10-CM6.1-Slayher1200" to help me remember exactly what it is.

exactly. i am not overly knowledgeable of how md5 works, but from what i understand, as long as there are no spaces, you can rename it to whatever you want
