Where are these guys at when I'm out and about? I am not that fond of spiders, but let me tell you what...that is one VERY beautiful arachnid! Great picture, and great find! One other thing, are they really that big?

No spiders unless you look underneath. I did expect to find a caterpillar smoking a hookah.

Good close up detail with nice fall off in the background.

That pic was taken from about six inches away from him ... I was having to make sure I didn't get too close while still getting a close up shot. LOL

With his legs, he was probably about an inch and a half total diameter.

Was chasing one of the puppies in the backyard, hit a patch, face planted, chipped a bone in my ankle. get to wear my lovely new boot for about 4 months!!
