If I have a rooted Droid with proper Bluetooth support, is there a Bluetooth or USB keyboard that will work with it? Something small with a mouse or trackball would be preferred.

No need to be rooted, just need an app from the market for a Bluetooth keyboard.

Daily Steals was selling a USB keyboard for $13 a few days ago.

Could you provide an example of a working keyboard-app combination? Keyboard support seems to be really sketchy... no one proudly trumpets that "this keyboard works with Android"...

I've been using the Freedom Pro bluetooth keyboard with "Keypro" from the market on my OG. It's the best combination I have found.

I've also heard a lot about the Freedom Pro keyboard. They appear to have their own drivers for Android 2.0+, as well...

Just bought the keyboard... will report back!

Heh, those keyboards are awesome. Not as awesome as the Steampunk keyboards, but awesome all the same. :D

Thanks, Prime.

You're welcome. Personally if I were to buy another it would likely be the aluminum apple bluetooth keyboard. (I didn't because I don't particularly like apple)

Reporting back, as promised...

Worked like a charm! Looks like the Freedom Pro is definitely the way to go at this time.

I used this video to help me get set up and was typing away within a couple minutes:
