I'm following his tweets, he does have 2.3 Gingerbread. Droid 2 Gingerbread (2.3.3) - PreRelease Thread

I don't know when he's releasing it.

Last tweet: P3Droid D2 GB and be reverted back to stock 2.3.20 via sbf file so you can take the offical ota...smile D2 people we thought your phone was dead.

It up now, I just saw it pop up on my tbh app. It says its essentially an sbf file converted to a flashable .zip. As of now, it says there is no root...but that you can revert back to stock with the regular sbf. I'll be more interested when its rooted.

the download is also absurdly slow. At the pace its going now it will literally take 20+ hours to download it completely. Hopefully it speeds up a bit..
