OKay..last chance..try to update all your bloatware(if you haven't done so-hoping you didn't freezed/frozed any bloatware)..Try to download again the one on my #6 post(may be you have had a bad download)then use the stock recovery..If this doesn't work..am so sorry...you need a computer for an easy job just in case..:)

So i tried, and still no luck...this sucks...

Been without 4G for most of the day - read something about an outage in the Midwest, but not sure Houston is considered Midwest...

Aside from that, the only other odd issue I've had with 901 is that sometimes after a call, the display becomes non-responsive to the touch. Pressing the power button seems to address it.

In general I'm seeing less data drops while battery seems similar. I rebooting does take longer now.

I finally flashed the 901 update today because I was fed up with the data drops (3g area). The results? Well I haven't had a data drop but the best thing is that my HDMI audio now works. :icon_ banana: I had comletely given up on it; even after 2 hours on the phone this week with Motorola. I could have done without teh extra blost, though I suppose the Emergency Alert app is handy.

So since I can't manually download the 901 update, how long do you think i have to receive it OTA? Estimate?

No clue, but can you find a friend with a computer and get it that way?

Yes, tomorrow I will have access to a computer. I hate to be such a pain but what will be my steps when I get to this tomorrow... And I don't want to root.

I followed the instructions at DROID Bionic Receiving Mysterious 5.9.901 Update? – Droid Life I got the file from the mirror site there. No rooting required.

To add to the instructions:

1. Download the file from above and drop it on the root of your SD card (not internal storage). That is SD-EXT
2. Power phone down
3. Reboot into stock recovery (adb reboot recovery) by holding Power and Volume Up/Down at the same time.
4. When the robot appears, press both volume keys in at the same time.
5. Select “apply update from sdcard” using the volume keys, then the power switch to initiate it.
6. Choose the file that you downloaded above, press Power and let it load.
7. When the install is done, press the Power button, It'll reboot, but it'll be longer than normal (a few minutes)

901 is the nuts. I used to always lose data when i went to the casino to play poker. It was horrible no matter what i tried. After 901, the problems are gone. The phone still wants to switch back and forth from 4g to 3g out at the casino, so i just switch it to cdma mode. It stayed on 3g all night. Before, it would drop 3g left and right. I am finally happy with my phone now.

The updates are named for the version you're coming from, not what you're going to. It confuses lots of people (including me), but that's what I was told.
