.893 to .902 or is .901 compatible? Using pathsaver just to get to 5.893 rooted???

Is the update coming out work with the .901 or is it only going to offically upgrade from 5.893? And I'm on 5.7.893, I DON'T want .901 and I'm going to use pathsaver. What is the play by play to using pathsaver to get to 5.5.893 and then root and be done and waiting for .902?
