While I think that the issues/zips/changelog etc...all being confined to one location (code.google), I feel that we here in the forum sometimes dont get the details from that site because honestly...a forum is much more informative and fun to navigate than a site with links and not much else.

Plus...WE are the users of this ROM, so...we should share with each other.

With all the fixes that people have been doing on their own...and getting things squared away...I wanted to start a thread where you can describe your setup details...what you did to get it to work...what works and what doesnt.

Along with your screenshots. Try to keep it as concise as possible.

Remember there is a broad range of users...and while you may know more than others...this is not a place to put others down for being "stupid" by your standards...but rather to help them in a way that is not criticizing.



Ill start:


My setup:

3.999 mod 1 flashed over ss 4.8 backbone
Chevy lv 0.8 lv kernel (o/c to 800 using setCPU)
Custom boot animation
Customized lockscreen wallpaper and desktop wallpaper
Custom icons (thanks to Jrizzill)

What works:

-location (w/o gps on)
- SD card and storage fix (added 99complete file in /system/etc/init.d...and added string below. **this resolution was posted on the code.google site** (no credit to me)
-added my verizon apk from my girls phone to pay my verizon bills
-*228+ works (no credit to me)

What doesnt work:

-Fb sync (dont care about it, I use sync my pix app for contacts I already had)
-some contacts I get fc when I try edit and touch icon pic
-keyboard backlight and screen unlocks when slider opens enough in my pocket. Upon which buttons start getting pushed.


Other than that...everything else works for me.

Im a happy camper.

Fix for SD card and storage: (credit to jrebeiro)

The MIUI Settings app tries to stat /data/sd to get the size of the sdcard. I resolved the issue by modifying /system/etc/init.d/99complete and adding the following on line 2:

ln -s /mnt/sdcard /data/sd

**I did this via root explorer and the SD card and storage no longer force close...it gives me stats. I didnt have the 99complete file in there either...so I created it in root explorer and added the string to the file and changed the permissions to match the rest of the files in this folder....be sure to reboot for changes to take effect.

I'm running the 3.999 build with v4 loaded over the top.

Things that are broke:
1. Can't load v4 in stand alone mode (boot loops)
2. Force close on SD card settings (didn't apply the fix)
3. When you get phone call or MMS, selecting and reading from the lock screen clears the new flag and number, yet the MMS is still new if you go and read it through the app.

What works what I like:
1. Location now works without the GPS being on.
2. The new Phone and MMS apps are cool I think
3. Rom seems nice and fast, no slow downs at all

like the way you aligned the lockscreen wallpaper and other wallpaper. Ive done that before and know it can take several attempts at cropping to get it to match up just right.

good lord people...nobody cares to show off the fruits of your labor? I know their has been a lot of frankenstiening going on. Im curious what types of apps/widgets you all are using and could give some desktop ideas.

if you dont use ddms.bat in the AndroidSDK..then download shootme from the market. Its free. You can post up screenshots that way. It saves them to your SD card as a .png file.

Nothing exciting on my part... I take a lean and mean approach, I try to make all of my wallpaper and backgrounds black. Maybe I'll play later.

I don't even want to take any shots yet just because this ROM changes literally everyday.

once stable I can move forward. To be absolutely honest my biggest fear is losing my process in Angry Birds...almost have all the golden eggs...

ok, I got around to flashing 4.1.1 fresh today and set everything up...no FC's at all. Other than group MMS attempt.

I flashed davros's IOS port with the 3.3 mms. No FC on group text anymore. However, I left the 4.1.1 contacts storage because its faster.

Ive decide not to use setcpu..as the stock kernel is already OC to 800 mhz. And the powersaving settings are there. I saw negative result using setcpu actually.

update with new pics.

This is some more screens of the jstyles port.

This includes the old 3.3 mms apk (which I prefer, since group text fc with new one, and I like the layout better), IOS themed.

I had previously flashed the IOS davros remix with the 3.3 mms.apk themed in there.

I downloaded the zip for the jstyles...opened the zip, went to system folder, applications, and deleted the mms.apk from it (since it wasnt themed).

Then I flashed this directly on top of the IOS remix. I will be flashing again when Davros themes the mms to match the jstyles theme.
