New Bionic Specs?

From what I read the Pentile display is the most battery efficient and this is why it is considered. Pixle peeping on a phone is really nit picking IMO. I am a photographer that has to keep expensive displays calibrated and know about displays.
But to each his own. If you like the Razar because it has a teen weeny better display then go right past the Bionic and have a ball eh?
I am impressed Moto went with it to help with battery efficiency. I read the Pentile is a tad better in sunight too.

Verizons 4g is pretty fast here in my area and I am on the outer fringe. We get like 8mbs in the extended 4g area. Its gotta be super fast in the actual 4g area. This is the only thing making me think twice about jumping on the evo 3d and sprint when it comes out.
And me bein a sprint customer as i type,i dont have sprints 4g service only 3g-but when i go n buildens,houses,etc-i dont get a good signal-my gf who is with vzw me sprint, both 3g-vzw kicked my but loadin pages-she never drops calls-i do-so as the preacher was preachin last nite-b sure and count the cost!!!!

if the phone had an iphone res and an iphone cam-wonder what would b wrong then?

I bet they release this phone with froyo. Specs look decent though. I like SGS2s specs better, hopefully S2 has 4g. I know the S2 wont be locked has a better screen and has GB.

We don't know anything about the screen yet. Wait until people actually get review units first. Anandtech is reporting (without confirmation at this time) that the HTC Sensation & Evo 3D phones are shipping with Super LCD IPS qHD displays that are NOT pentile matrix displays. Now, I know that's HTC and not Moto, but it's at least POSSIBLE that Moto could use the same screen. Let's wait and see.

Thats reasonable!!!!!

Like a lot of you, I have earned my stripes waiting for the Bionic. Living through the ups/downs of Bionic availability has been frustrating. Which leads me to the question: What is the real-life performace gain of a dual-core processor? Like "really"?

The reason I ask is b/c I've seen the real-life performace of both dual and single-core Android phones, and frankly I am not seeing much of a difference. I am well aware that future releases of the OS will take better advantage of the dual-core architecture, so will the apps, so even better performance is still coming.

But really, the newest crop of Android phone are fast in the stuff we do most: flipping through home screens, starting apps, closing apps, running apps. Most of us are not crunching huge databases on our phones, or using crazy resource-intensive apps where we'll see true time savings.

It reminds me a little of back in the day when a new Mac would come out with a new processor that performs 100% faster than the current one. The "real-life" measurement would be that a gaussian blur in Photoshop that took .5secs now takes .25secs. In abstract, that seems incredible. Except when I applied real-life - I use that blur 5 times a month, saving me about 1.25 seconds a month. Wow - really?

Don't get me wrong, I "like" the bestest/fastest/coolest phone, and waiting for the Bionic proves that I am willing to invest in a frustrating wait. But I am not completely convinced that a dual-core makes a total night/day differnence in what we use our phones for the most.

Here is an article on dual-core My dual-core is better than your single-core, or is it? - Phone Arena

I partially agree with you. Single core is plenty fast. I could use a phone with a single core if it had more than 512mb ram, at least 1gig actually. But we do want to make sure our phones are future proof if we are on 20 month contract. As the OS progresses over the years it will become more memory intensive and dual core and ram will be more necessary. But yes Froyo and even Gingerbread only take advantage of one core anyways. Icecream sandwich will take advantage of dual core. Also I was told webpages will render faster with a dual core.

Stelv makes an excellent point. In fact, rumor is that single cores won't even support Ice Cream Sandwich at all. How would you feel in 6-8 months when everyone is running ICS on their dual cores, but you're stuck with a single core for another year+ on your contract?! No matter how well it works today, i'm not locking myself into last year's tech.

Oddly enough, I could be OK with this. Not excited about it, but maybe OK, as long as the phone does the kinds of things the new 4G phones are doing now, with the relatively snappy perfomance I see now. That wouldn't be bad at all. Interestingly, my OG Droid has basically been doing what it does for over a year and a half now, and it's still a pretty cool device, IMO.

I am with you on the future-proofing, to the degree we can do this, but we are typically only future-proofed for a very short timeframe, if our expectations are to continually have the latest/greatest. My point from the start is that sometimes I question my personal need to chase the latest/greatest when I balance it against what I actually need to do on the phone.

Good discussion!

All i want this phone to do is remotely hijack monitors in the us capital in front of congress like tony stark did. This effin thing better do it!!!! :)

Its not about the latest and greatest with dual core opposed to single core. Its about being stuck with tech that came out a year ago, for another two years. As apps and OSs advance you may be limited. (think how horrible the transfromer or xoom would run on single core). But if single core meets ones needs and will be happy with the phone the way it is now for 20 months with no advancements its fine. The nexus s, inc2, tb and charge are all pretty nice single core phones.

...Also just my opinion (I am not trying to cause trouble here), but I would be careful about buying a Moto phone right now as they have been making some pretty bad decisions in the Android field and are making a lot of people not happy right now. Ex: Locked bootloader, no 4g on xoom, Jha saying crappily built apps are the reseason why blur is slow, Moto saying it wants to build its own OS and ditch Android.

We need a dual core HTC or Samsung 4g phone

I know it's nothing new, but I read something bad about Moto everyday just about. I really wanted to give them a second chance, I actually like the way the new blur looks but I have made my decision to unfortunately not get the Bionic. And I just wanted to warn people that were new to this site about moto's issues.

Every new peace of tech has its issues! Moto vzw HTC lg Samsung. They all have bad decisions at some point in the hardware or software! Its all about user preference. What we are willing to deal with to get that next great peace of tech!

I don't really get why blur is such a big deal. If it's so bad can't you just root and remove it? Or for that matter won't a custom launcher like launcher pro override it?

That's up to the person that's owns a Motorola phone! I root for better life I have not got into custom roms yet! Lol
