New Bionic Specs?

BMX Replies to The Tweet!!!

Well since I have to answer the question I will. I am still in Maryland and still on vacation, havent seen what the revisions of the "bionic" even look like. The device I was giving specs for is not the bionic and isn't even a Moto device... IN FACT it hasn't even been picked up by a carrier yet.

Not sure who the guys at HOFO are as I haven't been over there in years but perhaps they have information from moto that I dont have access to.. wouldnt be the first time but I can and will only speak with devices I have in hand.

That being said I am glad that in the face of all these other launches you all are still excited by this device.

Ahhh my heart just sank..haha. just as I was thinking the second guys like blackmanx start dropping hints the ball would get rolling...Aaahhhhhh : )

Cool specs, but if it's Q3, I'll pass.

I'll be choosing from the best-of-the-litter in the next month or two. Moto REALLY blew their product timing, IMO - and so did VZW. Imagine if they dropped a Moto phone now that was even just close to the original Bionic specs? It would have been such a hit for VZW's LTE roll-out, and there's so little formidible competition right now (TB, Charge, some new 3G phones) Moto would be eating everyone's lunch. I know Moto wouldn't want to release the Bionic if it wasn't right, but this all just seems like a "Swing and a miss" for Moto.

If they sold the Bionic now. They would lose sales of the DX2 and probably the Droid3.

If anyone is familiar with the Mobile Panda on Twitter, you know he's good to his word. Well he just tweeting a stat line that cant be ignored and I'm pretty sure it's the new Bionic. He mentioned that he put in for a new test model last week (He works for Verizon).

His tweet:

@black_man_x

"1.5ghz Dual core, 3g svdo, LTE on board, 4.3inch HD display with 1gb ram. 12mp cam in back 2mp in front.. anyone interested? #justasking"

If this turns out to be true, then my wait for the Galaxy S II might end short and land on the Bionic.

I highly doubt this is a Motorola phone. Moto, so far, has been tied to the Nvidia & OMAP SoCs. As far as I know, production runs of those for 2011 will only be up to 1.2GHz.

The only current production SoC that I've ready about going up to 1.5GHz is the Qualcomm MSM8660. Everybody knows that HTC is the biggest Android vendor that uses Qualcomm, so I'm guessing there's a good chance it's an HTC phone.

The OMAP 4460 processor has been in production since last year december and one if the companies that were very interested in it was motorola. the cpu can run up to 1.5 ghz.

Just as I suspected, it's probably an HTC device with the Qualcomm MSM8660. I wonder if he picked up that Pantech phone?

According to this, the 4460 didn't sample until Q1 of this year. But I imagine that would put it on pace to be out by Q3/Q4 so it's probably in play for this device as well. My gut tells me it's Qualcomm though, considering the mobile development platform has been going out to testers and the Pantech phone just surfaced a few days ago.

Motorola doesn't use qualcomm chips.

I kind of get the feeling the Bionic is going to drop at the same time as unlimited data is dropped. Unfortunate for me given that I'll be up for an upgrade in August, just in time to lose unlimited data most likely. Given that I've been using 5.2-7.5gb of data a month the past four months I think I'll be paying a lot more for my data when that happens.

I dont think it(unlimited data)will end.I think they understand that it would make alot of people mad cos of the delay of the bionic and then 2 release it just when unlimted data ends when all other phones got 2 njoy unlimited data.I hope they would let it continue well after the release of the phone.

So you think it more likely that they'll release a very hyped phone that's going to use a lot of data bandwidth and probably be bought in large numbers and allow everyone to lock themselves in with new 2 year unlimited data contracts? I doubt it. None of the 4g phones on verizon as yet have generated the kind of hype the bionic has, and with all the expectation based on it being pushed back for upgrades I'm sure they're going to want to cash in with new data plans.

Well, they did it with the Thunderbolt. That phone was about as hyped up as they get. It had commercials even before preorders were available.

Ok, I give up talking about the DB until they confirm something other than a "new form factor" wtf is that supposed to mean anyway? : )
