A new report out of Korea suggest Samsung's SDI will be producing solid state batteries for their flagship phones by 2019. The advantage of a solid state battery is that it includes solid electrolytes instead of liquid making the battery less volatile and less likely to catch fire. The tech is not mature enough to produce now but is expected to be within the next two years.

It is not surprising that after the disaster of the Galaxy Note 7, Samsung is the first company to want to highlight this new type of battery. As for a new technology allowing us finally to have smartphones holding more than 2 days... we will still unfortunately have to wait several years.

Have you tried moto z play? I went 4 days without charge during our March power outage. I did have a battery mod equipped though.

it is supposed to be solid state so maybe it will not cause fires. however, the technology is still too new to know what type of problems it could have.
