Need wifi-only text app

Got my bionic, and I'm giving dad my droidx. However, he is not activating as a cell, but just using it as a PDA/mp3 player around the house over wifi.

What would be a good text messaging app for my dad to use? Skype? Groupme? Something else?

Well, Skype wouldn't text. You could set up a Google voice account or you could also get Text+ which is actually pretty good!

I love google voice for free texting! And you can also read and reply to messages using your computer.

Yeah, Google Talk/ Google Voice ties into your Gmail so you can text from the Talk app or straight from your Gmail account, too. Both with video calls, as well!

+1 for Google Talk. I use it exclusively.

Google Talk does the job. I use it on my Nook Color because it is wifi only.

Yes it will work. Also realize that if you set him up with Google Voice he can also use the GrooveIP app to make phone calls using strictly wifi.
