Hi guys,

do you know where all the greatest emus and ports for the iphone come from ? from a VERY talented programer named ZodTTD. i know him a long time cause he done nice ports in the past aswell for the palm os. right now hes VERY busy with iphone programing. he made for example :

quake 1-3
VLC player
iphone psx emu
iphone n64 emu
wiimote app

and more cool things. he done also a palm pre psx emu. so i think to get all this cool stuff, we simply have to contact him. i already done on his website ZodTTD: Home Of Homebrew but i think we have to be many more people asking him for support to make him help us. imagine what cool stuff he could do for us. he definately haves the knowledge.

so pls help me to get his attention. greets mustang.

ATTENTION ATTENTION : WE WILL GET THE PSX EMU SOON !

I just get a answer email from zod :

"
Hi,

I have an HTC Hero (Euro) and I might buy a Droid & ODROID coming up soon. Thanks for the invitation, I will take you up on it. I wonder what's left to work on for Android ports though. :)

Thanks,
ZodTTD
zodttd@zodttd.com
http://www.zodttd.com"

then i wrotge him right now what we want to have:

"Hi zod,

its me again, andré the android fanatic :). theres much left to do for you if you want to help our community. we actually have the following ports

- quake 1
- quake 2
- doom 1
- doom 2
- duke nukem
- wolfenstein 3d

and emulator

- nes emu
- gba emu
- genesis emu
- snes emu
- mame emu
- amiga emu

maybe not a complete list but the most importanst things out there. so what we need is

- playstation emulator
- n64 emulator
- vlc port (would be very cool cause android haves no usuable divx player right now)

others that would be nice

- quake 3
- your fabulous open ttd port
- maybe a descent port (this scifi flying game)
- dos emulator

ok ok i know this IS much my wishlist. but hey we had christmas lol. just joking. if you can make just the psx emu and the vlc many of us would be very very happy. do you think its possible ? many thanks in advance. hope to hear from you soon. sorry for bad english im german :D.

greets andre."

so just be a bit patience. he will for sure do it soon :icon_ banana:

Where can I find those games listed for android?

- quake 1
- quake 2
- doom 1
- doom 2
- duke nukem
- wolfenstein 3d

I love doom, I didnt even know it was available on android...

Looking around for doom, it definitely isn't available... I did find one forum where people were saying that doom was taken off android for legal reasons. I also found one app called 'doom' with the doom icon but it force closed on open, and the it was happening to everyone who posted in the comments for it.

Same here... theses games are for the droid, are they on the market or somewhere else?

Man i would DIE vor a VLC player ;)+

Nice Job bud!

I would love VLC as well, but unless something changed as I mentioned in other posts I don't see it happening. I read that android lacks the hooks into the media portion of the os to add codecs or let the system access built in codecs inside other programs. I don't think a program like vlc can work until that is fixed.

I could be wrong, I'm not a programmer myself, but i was reading what they were talking about for coreavcs h.264 decoder for high def and they were talking about porting it to android and were having major road block issues. I can try finding the link to the post... ill update this with it in a few moments when i find it

for those interested here is the forum post http://forum.corecodec.com/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=2885&hilit=android
and here are some quotes that kind of sum it up:

dec 22, 09 "We have stopped work on it till Google releases an SDK/NDk we can actually build stuff that won't break in the next SDK/NDK release. The current multimedia capabilities in it are underdeveloped (a joke really)."

dec 23, 09 "
Well the good thing is this..... Google has stated in public now that they are going to allow a library of of spec on the NDK to work which is great news since we have CorePlayer API. But no news on when they will release this support in the NDK."

so perhaps we'll see vlc or other codecs come to light in the next couple of update releases. wasn't there somethign about 2.1 doing an upgrade to the 3d abilities of android for live wallpaper and the cool effects, games..etc?

coreplayer's devs are pretty much on hold until google releasees proper NDKs. no further development can happen until there is better system integration into the dev kits. the android's claim to open source is completely opposite.

in after the edit. lol.

after 2 months of no response. zodttd finally replied to my in twitter.
