Motorola Droid 2.1

Did you see this?

Apparently Motorola is really lacking in the PR department. The list of features that was pulled back off the internet earlier (re: 2.1 features) was followed by this update to the post in the Motorola Owner's Forum. WTH! Uh, I work for a decent company and a post has to go through at least a 5 person review panel, you would think Motorola would REVIEW something prior to publishing it. And by my count, four days left to get a 2.1 update to hundreds of thousands, if not millions of handsets? This should be interesting.

Here are the offical notes. The update has not yet been released.

Update: How embarassing. Apparently we jumped the gun on these details....

Wisconsin could not supply enough cheese to go with all the whining on this thread.
we can certainly try.....would you like chedder, swiss, or provalone :icon_ banana:

here in Wisconsin, i got snowed in and sat watching these boards all night and day.....gggrrrrrr how frustrating. May have to go to the store for more cheese.

Motorola Right Hand: Hey, Lefty! Whatcha doin?

Motorola Left Hand: Just a sec. I'm taking an announcement down from the website.

MRH: What announcement?

MLH: Right...What announcement?

ok they are just screwing with us now. Next thing they will be posting "We appologise but the motorola droid will not be recieving the 2.1 update"

You take that back, yes wisconsin can!

DAMN RIGHT!! (from another Wisconsinite)...

Jeez... My apologies to the Cheese Heads. You guys have a very nice state... for a frozen wasteland, that is. :icon_ devil:
hhheeeyyyyy dare.........we love our beer also.

anyway, the way Motorola and Verizon are handling this is amatuerish and pathetic. The way they post update material and quickly take it down, and not giving us a timeline shows a lack of loyalty to their costumers.

If I recall we were given a timeline several weeks in advance for 2.01.

lol exactly

MRH: When is 2.1 coming out for Droid?

MLH: Whats a "Droid"?

*: Hey you two!

MRH: Who the hell is that?

MRH: I don't know... I thought it was just us two?

*: it is I... or we...

Master Hand: Master Hand! you know... the all knowing, creating, gloves from Nintendo!

MLH/MRH: Holy Finger Nails!

Master Hand: You two need to get your **** together!

MRH: uh...

Master Hand: Don't uhhh me! Release 2.1 dammnit!

Motorola is making me mad. They need to get their act together.

Its hard to say whats going on... i've been involved with the mind of a three headed monster before "Moto, Google, and Verizon"... its hard for everybody to be on the same page and make executive decisions about the way things will be.

It hard to know who to blame and who is the disorganized one.
I suspect they all are used to working independently and now its a new game coordinating with 2 other companies to bring a project together.

We are prob fortunate things have gone as good as they have since this is a new game for all 3.

I"m sure they will get their act together "someday"

i've given up on 2.1. since the rumor of not having live wallpapers, i decided to root mine and put bugless beast on it. it's lightning fast. i should've done this sooner.

I'm gonna make a prediction (hear that guys, PREDICTION . . . but I'd be willing to bet on it). . .

IF the document earlier that outlined all the specifics of the 2.1 update, which has now been pulled, was posted at or around noon EST, I will predict that the 2.1 update will begin to push for those select few getting it first at midnight tonight. Why do I think this? Someone has already hinted at it elsewhere, but if the specs which have seen been taken down were posted at or around noon, it would make sense for it to be a simple coding or programming error where the person put "pm" rather than "am" for the display time. Since noon wasn't the case, and Motorola has already confirmed they took the document down because it was supposed to coincide with the release of 2.1, it makes sense to at least speculate that the update will push at midnight EST. At least that's what I'm predicting will happen.

Ok.. you have my vote and they have my permission... bring it on!
