One thing to remember is that just because something is on Nexus does not mean it is part of the 2.1 Android OS release.

Some things might be addons to the OS.

Live Wallpapers might be something added by HTC or Google to the OS that is not part of Android.

HTC added their SenseUI stuff, Motorola has added MotoBlur to some phones, etc.

I don't know it to be true ... just saying that some things on Nexus might not strictly be the 2.1 Android OS.

While this is a good point, do you really think extra home screens is strictly an HTC/google addon? I doubt it.

it is with sense ui so u really never know

Motorola doesn't care about us Droid owners anymore. We are the step children. They have a device that is coming out that will be their focus child.

thats the thing though people are always gonna feel that way no matter what even when the next phone comes out theyre gonna be complaining about the same things cuz a newer phone is gonna be on the horizon

Nexus one is a google experience device, similar to how the Droid was for 2.0. As far as I know the 2.1 source code released contained all the items such as live wallpapers, and the 3d drawer. So the only reason Moto. left it out is due to some decision internally. Whether it was a performance issue or something else, who knows.

This is something that, according to all information, should not be the case. The Nexus and the Droid are both supposed to be "vanilla Android", with none of the UI style changes like SenseUI or Motoblur add. This is so that the OS can be updated quickly and with a "pure" experience.

im wondering and i most likely could be wrong but does the nexus one homescreen run in landscape mode? the reason i ask is cuz i seen in another thread where the 2.1 launcher didnt work so well in landscape on the droid and maybe they still have to optimize it for the droid and thats why it isnt part of this particular update. maybe down the line we will get it. again im probably wrong but just wondering.

I'd rather wait a few more weeks/months than receive an incomplete 2.1. As much as I am anticipating the update, we deserve better than this.

I don't know about "deserve"..... The Droid is not the nexus as much as everybody hopes it ends up that way.
I imagine they want to leave a little distance between the two just so there is a market for the Nexus aside from no keyboard... why is that an incentive... the droid has a keyboard.. even if we dont use it what the benefit of tossing it if we already have it?.... almost nothing in thickness saved.

I'll be thankful for what I get and I hope I get it all.. but if we got no update at all... thats one update more than I expected when I first bought the Droid back when it was basic 2.0.

At some point, they "will" stop giving us all the creamy updated toys and leave that for the newer devices..... we do know that right?

Just because the OS continues to update does not mean they will eternally keep the droid up to par with the latest devices?

Motorola would be easier to deal with if we were a bit more grateful for what we got.

This reminds me of Haiti when they almost tore up the delivery trucks and beat the women and children away so only the strong got the food....

Lets mellow a bit for peets sake and not be a mob...

I figure the longer we wait, the more goodies we get and the better they will be!... let them add and tweak all they want till they are satisfied!

Its cool they at least let us know they are releasing something to us!...

We could have gotten nothing!.. no we don't deserve an update as if to act like we are being mistreated if we don't get it!
