Man I remember this same situation when I had my omnia and they were gonna release an update to unlock the gps. All the same cryin and complainin about when it was gonna happen on those boards are the exact same things I'm seein here. Everybody would say oh I hate samsung and will never buy another one of thier products blah blah blah but yet when the omnia 2 was announced those same people couldn't wait for it. I can't stand people sayin they hate motorola or will never support them again because this update is being delayed or whatever and its crazy. Its just seems like most think that we are entitled to everything new update wise no matter what. I say show me in your phone contract where it says we are

This is what happens when people allow their lives to be ruled by consumerism. Instead of spending all this time wringing your hands waiting for a software update to somehow improve your live, how about going out and spending a couple hours donating platelets and improving/saving someone else's life.

Just saw a similar post on Gizmodo. I don't understand where they think that the update isn't coming just because a post with the details of the update was taken down.

If the improvements in the Google Maps latest (second in two weeks) iteration (downloaded it today) is an indication of what we will see in the 2.1 release, then I will be quite pleased. It has the pinch and zoom and other wonderful features.
So, I took the posting of the release info and features list followed by its' being pulled as a good sign. That seems to me that a last minute decision was made to include even more improvements (or fix problems), so either way that is encouraging to me.
I'm happy to wait for it. Really, just the improved browser and gallery (both with pinch and zoom) with the gallery connecting to Picassa galleries) will be enough for me.

My guess is something pretty big was added hence the original delay from Jan22nd.....
Second, They are obviously under pressure to get it out or they wouldn't have posted and then retracted.
Its obvious they don't want us to know the exact time of release.... why?
Because they cannot promise.... that means things have not been nailed down and it hasn't been an exact science.
I see all this as good news.... simply because I'm hoping something good is in the works thats gonna make it worth it.
the only other option is that they just overestimated how long it would take to do the original updates they had planned.... but I'm thinking due to pressure, someone changed the gameplan at the last minute and I'm hoping the final product will be much better than the original planned for Jan22.
Regardless of the reasons... I trust they won't give us the update till its how they want it..... is that tonight or next week...... who knows.

.....................I heard that after 2.1 is installed, if you double tap in the right place the Droid will turn into a 52 inch led TV and Slurpee machine. :icon_ banana:
