I really do not mean to be a pest but can anyone shed some light on my whole half-roaming extended network but yet "in" issue lol! Also now my wifi will not work but I do not know if it is the phone or the network but none the less I now can not use it to receive the ota so I want to to know if I should even hold my breath for this ota update!

Personally I am lurking on the thread for any news but please don't hold your breath, you wont die, just get a headache or burst a blood vessel or the like :icon_eek:.

Market place has tools for Wifi Analyzer (find networks) and Network Discovery (more advanced). Then check to make sure you are getting an ip address to start when you do connect to a network

Thank you for the response. Actually what the wifi does is it sees the network and then drops and drops it so the wifi is like always flashing on and off. But it shows three bars when on for like a sec and then drops it and on and on lol. Also i am not worried about having to wait for the update i am just worried that i will not even get it since technically my 3g is extended network and i am pretty sure they will not send over 1x because it would take like an hour to dl. I am just worried that the whole roaming aspect will mess it up and also i never the original 2.0.1. I waited five days and just downloaded it straight but i would rather do ota to make sure it official. Does anyone else live in an an area where only 3g is romaing but not the rest? I find it to be VERY weird!

Well,

It is not the 22nd, and I don't even have to 64 meg update... WHAT GIVES.. lol

Oh, Miami, I too.. am a Redskin's Fan. Born and Raised in Maryland 20 miles from DC..

Ya who ever said january 22nd is totally false :(

Yup, all the speculation and carping is wasting bandwidth. Until/unless VZW/Google/Moto announce something or until the downloads start, it's all speculation. My speculation is that they started rolling an update to make sure phones were ready, and then ran into a problem. Does anyone want it before it is right? I don't need or want to be a guinea pig.

Why can't someone from google just say "yes" you are going to get a update or say "no". Instead of not saying anything at all. I'm sure they are aware of the speculation. Or are they just messing with us!

After the update to 2.0.1, some people had trouble with thier networks as apparently there were slight changes with the update.

I would suggest to delete the association with your router or access point in your Droid and tell it to forget the settings.
Then discover it again and set it back up and see if that fixes your intermittent problem.

lol, it's almost like they enjoy reading these post. "Look at these guys and we're not releasing until June."

That was a joke people, not a prediction. Just want to make sure things didn't get out of hand.;)

Google/Moto/VZW are probably watching these threads and laughing their asses off...

"Hey guys, let's 'leak' a date for 3.0 and tell people that it will let their phones julienne fries... that'll get em going!"

I'm from the camp that feels that the phone works fine now... sure, the update could add a few cool features... but it could also introduce bugs, so the longer they take to make sure it's right the better off we'll all be =)

It is Verizon that distributes, Google's OS. Verizon has had, 2.1 for awhile, they and Motorola, need to make it work on Droid, once that is done, and ready for public release, ta da we get to download the OS.

I still don't think it's impossible to see a release today or tomorrow. One of my buddies works for Google and he's already got a fully functional version of 2.1 Sadly he refuses to leak it to me :(

This entire thread is giving me "Windows '95" flashbacks! All the crazy people standing in line at Best Buy at midnight.....all for something that was really not all that significant. It's not like this is even a really big upgrade. Just a few added features that in the scheme of things don't make that big a difference. My thought is that Verizon should take all the time they need to get it right. I definitely don't need problems caused by a rush to deliver. My Droid works great the way it is. If it was a major version upgrade (like 2.x to 3.x), then I could see the anticipation. But this is a minor version upgrade (read: enhancements). There's no big bang here. I think lot's of folks will be disappointed if they over-hype this.
