If we get flash, at some point, will I see the dancing banana's when surfing these forums? I mean ya there is a banana there but he doesn't look like he is dancing very well.

Hey guys I am new here but I have a question for y'all? I normally live in Houston so I obviously have service there but I go to Texas Tech in Lubbock where this used to be alltel. Now the weird thing is that both the voice and text network (a.k.a the one with no signal next to the bars on the droid) as well as 1X national access, is full Verizon now. However, my 3g is still considered extended network!! ( I know this because if I set my phone to home only I lose 3g or if I put it to evdo only my tag changes to extended network) I know that Verizon said that no updates would go to you if you are roaming so I am kind of stuck as to what to expect about getting it, since I am half roaming lol. :) I have had the phone on wifi as much as I can but nothing yet. I wondered though if you do it on wifi wouldn't that come out really late since wifi does not connect to the network so wont verizon have to post it somewhere on a server for the phone to find? I still do not understand where the update goes if you use wifi and how your phone knows to look for it. Sorry for the rant but I really enjoy this forum and thought you could help? Thank you!

Updating

OK I am new to this forum.....and not very well educated on the DROID as I just bought it a week ago. How do I know if I got an update.:icon_question: I remember the salesman telling me to hit "update later" when he was setting it up. If there is updates how do I get them??? How do I go back to the update he said to update later:blink:. I dont want to mess up this phone...I love it....and can't imagine having to get another new one for awhile. What is crazy though is no user book came with it....for that price, for gosh sakes, it should come with it...lol So how do I find out all that I need to find out about this phone.....tips and tricks..and such. Thanks in advance for your help

If your phone tried to get the update and you said "later" I'm surprised it didn't prompt you again... but since your phone is "ripe" for updateing, you should be able to go to settings----> about phone---->system updates---> and it should start the download.

If you already have 2.0.1, it will simply say "your system is currently up to date"

How much of the 'look' of 2.l this phone comes to Droid? All over it? Is this the OS we'll have?

Know I'm new, but from what I've been reading, its the complete 2.1 OS coming over. All functionalities and appearances. Supposed to be some pretty nice changes. I'm just counting the days until February 17 so I can finally get an early upgrade from Verizon and pick up my Droid. I was thinking about holding out for the Nexus One this spring, but with the OS change on the Droid and the reviews I've read, I really think the Droid will be a better fit. Can't wait.

or wait a little while longer and get the Motoroi, looks like a droid without the bulk/keyboard

I've considered that, also. Trying to decide if I want the keyboard or not. One absolutely maddening thing about Verizon is the absolute lack of any kind of release projections for new phones. Honestly, had I known the Droid was going to be out 32 friggin' days after I upgraded to my Imagio, I would have waited. Of course the return policy being 30 days, I was screwed.

I just wish there was some more forewarning for what was actually coming out from Verizon and when. I love their coverage and service and won't go anywhere, but that tightlipped bit about phone releases really gets annoying.
