Was just perusing the Motorola Support Forums, and came across this link:

It seems others are having the same problems with letters peeling from the keyboard, and one poster who's had more than one phone was asked by Motorola to provide them with his defective phones so they could have a look. Seems they're trying to correct the problem, but the official response for now is to obtain a warranty replacement.
