Just ditched the iPhone and AT&T.

You know...it kinda sucked to have to pay the early termination fee with AT&T, but I suppose I'd finally had enough of the dropped calls, lack of 3G coverage, and dysfunctionality of the iPhone.
It was revolutionary when it first came out, but Apple has sat on its laurels and allowed other devices and manufacturers to pass them by.
And I really don't know if AT&T's 3G network is actually faster or not....but I do know that I have 3G coverage with Verizon where I never had it before (like here at home), and that a "slower" 3G network is light years better than the fastest "Edge" network.
It doesn't do much good to have a "faster" network if you can't access it.
I just ran a speedtest with my Droid and iPhone. Verizon's 3G network clocked in at 2 mbps.....the Edge at 76 kbps.

I know what you mean about AT&T. I spent over ten years with them (and their precursors). I've now got 3g in areas I've never had it before. I could not be happier with the service and the Droid.

congrads on your recent upgrade! i hope the droid continues to amaze you for years to come.
I forgot to mention in my earlier post that I thought my hacked Palm 750 and AT&T were both great. Turns out I was wrong on both accounts!! The Droid and Verizon (for the areas in which I travel) blows away Palm and AT&T.

If you're worried about the ETF, just do what I did, and sell your iPhone on ebay. I actually made a profit on it, payed off my ETF with money leftover to get my new Droid a sweet ass car dock!

Welcome! Like you, I dropped AT&T(really poor coverage and bad 3G) and my iPhone last November. I purchased my Droid in December and had nor regretted my decision.
The Droid is awesome and you can customize to you hearts content.
