This might be a stupid question but I've searched and found no answers. Is there any way to download .zip files directly to your phone?

yeah you should be able to download them just fine. there may be a setting in some browsers that defines what files you can download but i use dolphin and i've never had ti set anything up.

Yes, Dolphin allowed you to download any file just as though you were on the computer. Doesn't mean you can open or run it, but Android does support zip files.

Download a file manager or browser that supports zip files

I have downloaded a few zips through xscope with no problems, then open it, if needed, with astro file manager which can browse the zip with out extracting it.
