I am getting a 2 year... I don't need a reason to not be content with a phone and want the 'next best thing' in a couple months... it drives me crazy so the 2 year forces me to be happy ad not drive myself crazy with these forums and on the speculation/rumors about the 'next best thing!'

It's the opposite for me. While I try to go by that thought, I end up wanting out of my current device so bad after 1-1.5 years that I usually end up paying full retail for a new device.

I don't think they will cannibalize their bread and butter (the droid) for iphone.

Realistically, the iphone will become there most popular phone for verizon. There are so many non smartphone users switching over to the iphone it is unheard of, not to mention all the wannabe android users that are going to jump ship. I also read that roughly two-thirds of the blackberry users are going to jump ship.

I saw on the wirefly that the game index wasnt that high for this phone. What does that mean? Does that mean it wont play games very well? Does that mean apps wont work as well on it?

I for one have no prob getting this stellar phone with a locked in 2 year agreement with unlimited 3g/4g data...plus with BB's buy back program offered free you essentially can get a phone within 6 months for like $350 cash without doing anything to your contract...I almost paid $360 for an iPhone 4 on a 2 year contract...what a bone head move that could have been.

this is exactly why I pre-ordered my TB last night at BB. in the past we have always went to the VZW store.

I've been saying 14 days after iPhone since the iPhone was announced.

exactly right; I don't understand whats' so hard to comprehend here: releasing the TB within the iphone 14-day return window provides no value whatever to VZW or to Apple. for all we know Apple is calling the shots here, under contract: Remember this is a company with a very active legal team that tries to patent user experiences. This is company that tried to patent the whole mouse UI concept that they didn't even invent (it came from Xerox). This is a company that tried to patent the telephone keypad. This is a company that refuses to support flash because they didn't invent it and can't control it. I can't imagine Apple not preventing people from returning their shiny new 3G iphone for a 4G android. Moreover, the 4G iphone will appear well before those 2-year contracts expire, so there is loads of cash to be made on those upgrades as well.

I also said that VZW might bundle free hotspot with the TB a la Palm..

Well, here again I see no advantage for VZW to do this. but this is an interesting twist -- what is your reasoning here?

Nothing against Miami, but his "insider info" is a lot of "well maybe this"... I personally don't think he has any info. He just randomly generates this stuff, like with the Merge.

rumor sites get paid by number of hits, not by the factual accuracy of their content...

They may not know something is wrong. And besides, I don't understand why people are so frustrated. Verizon hasn't made ANYTHING official. We are all getting worked up over a bunch of leaks.

well, that is an interesting twist, to be sure. Feb 16 is indeed within the iphone return window. But does that mean BB knows something we don't, or that the speculation around preventing iphone returns is all false? I dunno! But if by the 16th, the TB is not available for sale and VZW activation, I'm sure BB will extend the pre-order

what I don't get is the assumption that the data plan will be $30 unlimited including 4G, and all the folks who pre-ordered the TB expecting to fall into this plan. its just not true -- BB cannot confirm the data plan, and VZW is not talking.

There's a separate authorization card for 3G and 4G If I remember the wirefly video correctly -- that suggests separate price plans, no?

I hear you...and I too believe Verizon should take care of their loyal customers and say SOMETHING. But I'm just going to wait until BB tells me to pick up my phone.

One thing is for sure.....Verizon is creating a bunch of google hits for DF....lol
