HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

all the vzn reps I talked to said they think it will be the same price, and no you don't need 2 separate stuff, I asked her since I travel back and forth between 2 cities on weekends, and one of them will have 4G, if I can get 4G there and then when I come home I can get 3G, and she said yes

I saw on the wirefly that the game index wasn't that high for this phone. What does that mean? Does that mean it wont play games very well? Does that mean apps wont work as well on it?Please someone who understands this stuff let me know. I'm worried about the performance of the phone now.

I'm not sure what the big deal is with bb buyback program its 50% of what you paid for the unit if its in perfect condition, good luck with that. I have had my x for six months and I could sell it on ebay for at least 350. I only paid 200 for it originally so it wouldn't pay even if I paid full price.

I also feel betrayed by verizon with the droids they slammed the iphone since the original droid and now they are doing their best to kiss apples butt.I bet moto and htc aren't happy about getting put on the back burners. The purple at verizon said as much about why no word on the thunderbolt. I will wait just like everyone else but I am not liking it. The purple over at best buy better hope its just a rumor about pushing the release date back. They told people it would be able to be picked up on the 14th I don't believe they pulled that out of the hat verizon had to tell them, retailers would be out of business if they did.

Well all the VZW resp you talked to are just giving opinions ,which could be right or wrong. I've had the same experience, followed soon by anothe rep who says they don't know and/or can't say anyway.

yes of course the 4G capability is backward compatible, including the authorization card. but I think what they've set themselves up for is the ability to charge separately for 3G vs 4G. whether or not they actually do that is another question. we all hope not, of course, but they have the capability to differentiate between 4G and 3G service and authorize accordingly. For example, the way it looks to me is that you could authorize a 4G phone to operate only on 3G. again, whether that happens or not is another question, to which I'd say probably not.

I don't think people would be so frustrated if they would just say something. Personally I'm just annoyed that all this stuff points to an extra 10days-1 week with a crappy old EnV touch.

well these companies don't get this far into a relationship without a contract., so what's going on now is just behaving under contract. I suspect the butt kissing happend during contract negotiations, when VZW saw the $$$ from floods of apple fanatics being added to the network.
probably, all these leaks and rumors are VZWs way of operating under the apple contract, raising as much hype and awareness re: 4G phone as they can without getting sued by Apple.

this is a good point, but there's probably some goofy contractual loophole thing going on. for all we know Apple is filing stop orders at VZW and VZW is using the retail chain to communicate with us via leaks, because the apple contract prevents them from making any announcements directly!

While I agree with you that vzw reps will give opinions...its not just them who are saying it either...its the BB reps too man...I dont blame you for being pessimistic at all, because we need to be prepared for the chance that it will not be a unlim 3g/4g for 29.99.

but again I have talked to different vzw reps..different bb reps and they are all saying the same thing...so again while I agree that they may be giving opinions..its also a good point that maybe it could be that way...

like I said in a previous post...their cash cow will be the iPhone users..people willing to pay top dollar for a product. We as android users are in it for the tech and dev aspect. The freedom of your possessions. The small number of people (in the grand scheme of things) that buy the TB may have an edge on the LTE gig.

My point is this...if you want to wait for a dual core phone...then by all means wait because Im sure that those phones will be awesome. But those who jump on this TB initially may have a benefit that others wont have. I am willing to take that risk like many others. If its something that we have to pay initially then so be it.

Differing opinions is what makes a good forum. I by no means hate what you say...in fact I want to hear it. When I am prepared to buy a product I look at both the pros and the cons...then weigh my decision based on what Ive gathered. You sir, I feel are the same.

Omg....your right, I think ur right, there has never been as many "leaks" on a phone like the TB...the commercial....all the specs are out there! What if...now stay with me on this one....what if Verizon is pushing out the TB to best buy to attract some attention, because any best buy guy could reccomend you the TB instead of the I phone...but because apple and verizon signed a contract...verizon cannot directly mention the release date till after they sell a butt load of iphones....it makes sense people, the commercial, the RUU leaks, the unboxing video, the spec sheets...we know it all about this thing! The release date must be n the "febero" commercial, the 4g pricing might be no $ extra due to leaks that suggest it...the phones price, even the amazon.com fiasco. I think that Verizon is giving us everything! because they can't contractually announce anything official...however "leaks" aren't official, is anyone with me on this?

I couldn't agree more a44kaliburll In fact I was originally intending to wait for the Droid Bionic (my last NE2 is up about that time) but I agree with you that there may be some advantage (perhaps grandfathering in a $30 unlimited 4G data plan) to those to spring for the TB. I sure hope so.

I didn't meant to be pessimistic -- just statistical. We do have mounting evidence that TB will happen between 2/14 and 2/24 and that the $30 data plan will hold as well, even for 4G. I'm just saying there is still nothing official, so it isn't necessarily so -- perhaps 80% confidence if you will

But I guess it could be true that VZW is being prevented by Apple from revealing these details (officially) so they turned to the retail channel and the impact of opinions and leaks, as if to say "not to worry, droid followers, let the iphone have its day in the spotlight and then good things will happen". 2/14 is coming very soon, so we will all anxiously await the news that comes in!
