I'm pretty sure no one would purchase a phone just because of 4g and not even see if its in their area, heck half of any phone commercial displays a map of their coverage

This is the same group of people that buy blindly because a piece of fruit is on the back of a handset. Either way, I'd say 85% or more of the people I know only upgrade once their contract is up. I think a big selling point of this phone is that it's compatible with current/future tech that's not wide spread yet and people will be more comfortable buying it.

I can see the sales pitch now. "Sir if you buy this now, you won't have to upgrade your phone for LTE speed when it does come to your area, AND the monthly rate is the same as if you were buying a 3G handset."

I'm anxious for the Bolt but does HTC have anything up their sleeve for vzw later this year that could cause buyer's remorse?

there is nothing that will be as all around good as the bolt.. there will be more powerful devices but not a "do everything well"

I am getting a 2 year... I don't need a reason to not be content with a phone and want the 'next best thing' in a couple months... it drives me crazy so the 2 year forces me to be happy ad not drive myself crazy with these forums and on the speculation/rumors about the 'next best thing!' :)

is anyone else getting a 2 yr contract, or am i in the minority?

I am! But I was reluctant to getting a 2 year agreement in the first place...then I ordered the iPhone and was like well...I'll try it for a year and see...then nope you can only get a 2 year...I cancelled...I cancelled because I know I love android...and I know that if I had to stay 2 years on anything it sure as shiz aint gonna be on an iPhone..I dont even know if I like it

So with the BB's future proofing feature that is offered free for this month you can esentially get a good phone within 6 months for the price of a subsidized iPhone 4 32gb.

I said deal...if I want a Bionic or the next awesome android phone in a year I can do so and NOT break the bank!

I don't think they will cannibalize their bread and butter (the droid) for iphone.

Realistically, the iphone will become there most popular phone for verizon. There are so many non smartphone users switching over to the iphone it is unheard of, not to mention all the wannabe android users that are going to jump ship. I also read that roughly two-thirds of the blackberry users are going to jump ship.

I posted this same hypothesis on the thread "Thunderbolt delayed" located here:http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-news/123525-thunderbolt-delayed-7.html#post1271958

you know what I think?

Its not like they can make me pay for a service and not be able to utilize it. So what is being said...under the covers is that if you get a 3g/4g device and are on a 29.99 unlimited contract for said phone, you are grandfathered.

On the contrary sprint makes their customers pay for the 4g service even if it's not available in their area, so I don't see why verizon can't. But I hope that you are correct.

Thunderbolt = March

My guess is as good as any of this speculation saying "Oh, well, my guess is that most likely, problably, Verizon is delaying it because of the iPhone return window."

Blah, we're getting the shaft - the TB is on indefinite hold and I doubt we'll see it in February.

I did not quote you, nor repost anything that you have posted. This article was just uploaded tonight, so there is no way you could have posted it earlier. I appreciate you trying to give us information, but please don't get people's hopes up unless you have something solid (eg. link, photo evidence, document, etc.). We don't want a repeat of the previous 3 and have this threat shut down as well because people get too heated. Thanks.

P2 of Df news is where the ordginal story was postede but it's merged in here somewhere (wen) posted it on Saturday or Sunday after we spoke by phone and i was travelling (saturday I beleive...)

It doesn't matter too ,uch but in the grand scheme of things they are days behind here and it chaged again on Monday (evil grin) so stay tuned... ( I will try to retrieve the OP now)

my post on 2/6 then wen posting it as an exclusive....

I do remember seeing that article and your post last weekend sometime. But for a long time I have been saying 14 days after the iPhone, ever since I found out iPhone was coming out first before TB and that VZW changed their return policy from a month to 14 days. I just thought it made sense from a business standpoint as far as exchanges go and the hassle it creates for Verizon.

So to be clear on what you are saying, when you talked to your Verizon contacts on Saturday or Sunday, they said 2/14 is on. But now you are saying that you found out yesterday that things changed Monday (evil grin). So that means NOT 2/14, for sure? I'm taking that to mean 2/24 is more likely, or possibly even as late as 2/28 as you said earlier? Thanks for clearing this up.

I've been saying 14 days after iPhone since the iPhone was announced. I also said that VZW might bundle free hotspot with the TB a la Palm..

Nothing against Miami, but his "insider info" is a lot of "well maybe this"... I personally don't think he has any info. He just randomly generates this stuff, like with the Merge.
