HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

I'm starting to think that since BestBuy is getting exclusive retail rights to the phone - and will most likely be making it available before VZW stores - that the ball is in their court on when to official announce its release date and price.

The closer we get to the 14th without official word, the more likely it will be to get pushed back. That's the only reason to not announce it. Someone - whether it's Best Buy or Verizon - is playing their cards close to the chest so they can make a last minute change, likely based on the frenzy that will surround the iPhone launch this week.

Does it really matter if Verizon stores will get the TB on the 14th as well? My Verizon store is literally across the parking lot from my BestBuy, and since both are fully capable of getting me the Thunderbolt for the same price, I don't see why it matters.... unless you have a Verizon store in your area but no BB for some reason lol

because my BB is full of idiots who don't know anything, so I don't trust them with the buying a phone there...

one of the guys didn't even know what carrier the Thunderbolt was for

And you can't get a one year contract or use ne2 discount at bby

Sent from my Droid using DroidForums App

Thats exactly my dilemma, I'm still using my Droid 1 and and chomping at the bit to get a TB, but I really want a 1 year contract and the ability to use my new every 2 credit. I'm not sure if those are possible at Best Buy...

But you guys are gonna pay more than people who wait for Verizon, right? I mean if you order from BestBuy there's an activation fee, retail tax... Meanwhile wouldn't Verizon waive activation when ordered online and I didn't think they charged full retail tax, either- when I ordered my Droid X CPO, there was like a $10 tax.

You have to pay sales tax anyways, if Verizon has a brick and mortar store in your area tax is collected, no easy way around it unless your state doesn't care. NYS on the other hand screws us everyday.

Any remotely legit news on possible data pack pricing or structures for LTE? I was on the phone with account support last week and asked the same question. She wasnt quite sure what I was talking about, and I mentioned that Sprint charges extra for 4g. She said "that extra charge just for 4G was kinda rediculous if you already pay for unlimited data." So I'm not really sure what direction they will go...

I'm just curious why everyone is so against a 2 year contract? That's all I've ever had since I've gotten a cell phone

As have I, but I'm planning for the future as phones are replaced faster and faster, I'll be ready for a daul core next year, but cant wait for one now. I'll spend a bit more now and make it back when I sell the phone after a year and upgrade agian. :)

I wouldn't expect people from BB to know anything since they basically have phones for every carrier. I'm sure its hard for them to learn every single spec about all the phones they have. Verizon employees just have to learn Verizon phones which a lot of their employees still don't even know how to connect a bluetooth. I would buy my phone from whoever had it first lol. It doesn't matter if they know that much about the phone. The only thing they need to be able to tell me is the price and the release date. I do my research and learn as much as I can about any phone I purchase just because I know that neither BB employees or Verizon employees are gonna know that much about the phone. Just do your research.
