HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

I like this thread better than the other ones. So many dates have been thrown around that I don't know what to believe I need this phone to come out. Been gettin more and more customers asking about it now.

I think the real question comes down to the reason for the delay (if there is one):

1. Phone
2. Network

If it is the PHONE... then we all can just go for the Stealth, Bionic, etc.

If it is the NETWORK... then... that's another story entirely. Then you have to really wait on LTE.

If I were to guess, it would be more of a phone issue since there have not been too many people complaining about the 4G modem connections. Who knows though....

I am calling network problems. HTC knows how to build a phone and some testers are using it fine. Could be 4g issues...or bandwidth problems. Data has increased a great deal on the network. are:blackdroid:

yea its clearly not an Apple thing anymore; that might have been true for the first 2-3 weeks after ihype day, but now I suspect there's an element of supply chain logistics; if it were something major like the network or the phone, it would take longer than a 2-3 weeks delay. It could be a quality control or mgf capacity thing. maybe not enough stock is built up to launch. I guess something minor with the phone, like sourcing a better battery, is possible ;-)

BMX is saying it's the network, but they are still thinking they are going to be ready by the launch date (March 17th)

It sounds like it's all dependent on if they can finalize all of the markets that are supposed to have LTE in time.

There is no launch date - this phone will continue to be delayed until whatever problem (presumably with LTE) is fixed. Could be the 17th, the 25th, April, May - who knows.

You might as well just wait for the Bionic.

As soon as they have an actual release date, they will tell us.
I read an article saying a person at verizon said employees were giving fake release dates to the blogs so they could laugh at everybody's reaction :icon_eek:

Commercials all over the place for the TB. Thats the part that pisses me off the most. If you are going to run commercials for it then it should be out or have a definate date of release.

Doesn't really matter though. I will wait on MOTO for the Bionic

I love how we keep thinking that a "shipment order" is evidence that the phones are coming. How many "shipment orders" have we already seen over the past 2 months that obviously didn't happen? Nothing will convince me that this phone is coming out anytime soon until Verizon posts on their website that the Thunderbolt will be arriving on xx/yy/zzzz.

The LTE network works fine, I've got an aircard that works quite well......

Now, the LTE radio in the phone could have problems, but I think the battery is still the issue....

At this point if what that big wig was saying is true and they don't expect this to come out till 2nd qtr, first half of year I think I'm just going to wait till end of this month and if it doesn't come out I'm going for the droid x. I just hate putting my contract on for another 2 years on a phone that is almost eol. Would love to wait for a new one but nothing is in the future at this point.
