HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

Guys, just wanted to keep you up to date here. I just talked to my rep again today, to confirm tomorrow as the release date. Here it is:

Me: "So whats the launch date? You said tomorrow right? Im just trying to clarify, because i need a decent phone for work, might pick up a used one, if this gets cancelled of something."

Rep: "It is tomorrow."

I also asked if an announcement today was pending. Still awaiting a reply. Ill keep yall posted...

is this a BB rep or a VZW rep?

Just wondering because I have the extra $100 credit available for my upgrade for being the main line on a family plan and was told by BB that only Verizon stores honor that - so I'm definitely looking to purchase thru VZW.

This is actually a vzw salesman at my local corporate store. He said hes "going to be digging" for more information today when he gets a chance.

I cannot agree with that indefinately comment as I am sure that HTC wants this phone in peoples hands asap. They are in the business of selling phones, not having the rot in warehouses

Well, it's not even been 2 weeks since the 4-day public launch of the IPhone. I'm sure HTC would only ask that VZW wait at least 2 weeks after it launches the HTC before another new phone is released. All seems perfectly reasonable to me.

VZW doesn't make money on these phones, so I have no idea why people continue to think VZW is delaying a launch, risking losing customers (and REAL profits) to Sprint and AT&T, just to sell more IPhones.

Held a Thunderbolt Display Model

Hey guys...not sure if it was mentioned...but i went to a VZ Reseller here in Downtown NYC. They had a display Thuderbolt behind the counter. He let me hold it...I was surprised that it wasn't as "fat" as I thought it will be. The HTC's have the rounder back....it was much slimmer then I thought and fit it in my pocket even with the bigger screen.

Oh well...it was only a non working dipslay model..but at least I got to "hold it" LOL

PS..no word on a release

Hey it's me again, your pessimistic buddy Effington...

This phone coming out tomorrow? lol

Hows your blackberry doing?? Need salt? I got till Monday on my watch.. :) lol

You sure do - I have my Atrix in hand and ready to film my Blackberry consumption.

Not too worried though ;)

Yeah pains me to say but my wallet seems to be thinking it might get a little lighter next week... and becuase of the TB.. but not cuase it is here.. :(

I was waiting for a higher res screen and dual core, but the Thunderbolt has definitely peaked my interest, so I'm definitely eager to upgrade rather than play the waiting game, but unfortunately it looks like we all may be waiting until Sunday, the 27th according to my source.

Haha, at this point are you SURE it was only a display model?

It's curious that VZW hasn't announced a launch date. There's been a fair amount of advertising the past week, so I'm not sure why no release date has been announced (the old "any publicity is good publicity"?). I simply don't buy the secrecy is due to some irrational fear of thousands of IPhone returns. Seems there are other issues at play here, which should probably be a real and bigger concern to potential buyers.

I know Miami has a lot more hits than misses - but this was a miss, and I was saying all along that no one can predict what Verizon's intentions are with this phone.

What I can tell is that Verizon's main concern now is the iPhone and all other devices will be taking a back seat indefinitely.

Not saying this phone won't be released indefinitely - it will release, and soon, just not this month. But Verizon's support for Android is what will be taking an indefinite back seat.

27th of What month? LOL.

VZW is sure spending a ton of money on prime time commercials. Hard to believe it will be more than 7 days.

Also phones sitting in a warehouse gotta to be costing VZW alot of $$$.

Get off Miami's back. Good God.

I am right there with you Cakes....... Joking or not, there have been a lot of haters on this thread.

He did say the 24th though, and as of now the chance of that looks extremely bleak. If I came out and said the phone is coming out on ____ and I was wrong, people would give me a hard time too, deservedly so.

His apparent "sources" are turning out wrong, so why should we just be like "ohhh silly Miami you were close!!"
