this phone is looking more and more like the merge situation from last year. the phone keeps getting pushed back over and over again to make it the best phone out there. eesh! at this point i will be shocked if the phone is out by the summer. happy i ditched my eris for the incredible when i did or i would still be waiting like everyone else

See I already have the incredible have had it since its launch day so I want the next best thing. Don't know y I would consider iPhone. I'm like bi-polar lol Charlie sheen. No I'm bi-winning. Have all the phones that come out

For those of you wanting the bolt. Don't rush out and buy an x or something like that.

You should wait it out for a few more weeks before making any decisions. I mean ya never know what could be headed out way shortly.

i can afford to wait quite some time, just got a brand new iphone 2g to hold me over. Im hoping they stay with the unlimited data for 30 bucks a month tho. If they charge more than 40 a month for that I will just buy a dinc 2 or somthing.

All I am saying is based on what I read and what I have seen.

All TB commercials have been pulled in my area. We do not see them anymore. I hear (have not confirmed) that they have also been pulled from YouTube.

Chief Technology Officer of VZW says

" I guess our expectations change, but we had said first half of this year at CES, quite frankly, we think that exceeded people’s expectations. A year ago, people didn’t believe that there would be LTE smartphones in 2011. First half of the year is what we promised, first half of the year is still on track. So we don’t believe there are any new or surprising issues. I think what we’re facing is what you would expect, and that is a new technology, you are working through issues. And we anticipated that, and we are pleased at how we are working through issues. And as I said, you are going to see LTE smartphones on the network as promised, before the first half before the second half of the year, by the end of the second quarter."

No he did not say the TB name but danced all around it. I think he made it pretty clear that VZW is now looking past Q1 and focusing on a more realistic deadline of end of Q2.

Trust me, I want the TB just as bad as everyone else but I think there are some network issues that need to be resolved. As my husband says, it is not a good idea to buy the first of anything because you end up with a bunch of bugs. I may wait until some of the first run bugs are worked out before getting the TB.

Iphone isn't even a close comparison

How about the HTC Inspire, over on AT&T?

-Mike
that is an excellent device. I bought one, kept it for like 2 weeks, then took it back. Speaker volume was too low, att blocked 3rd party apps(and swype), and my signal at work didnt improve any. Although I will say the call quality, and volume was much louder than im iphone 3gs ever was. It was a great phone, but really just a HTC Desire HD for the death star. TB will be significantly better.

If the issue is the battery what can they do about it? Give a different battery?

yea $64 question. perhaps they are underclocking the processor to conserve power. seems pretty easy to source another battery, for pete's sake Bionic uses >1400mAh why can't HTC.

but u guys are right the bionic is starting to look more attractive. HTC/VZW failure to launch lol

If what we are hearing is true about LTE being a battery hog, I wonder if App Devs will have much control over enabling/disabling the LTE radio.

I hope so. It means that someone could make an App to limit the phone to 3g data only when it's "idle" and only updating widgets/email in the background. It would seem to me that would be a tidy way to conserve battery power.

Not a tech guy, just an idea man.

Anyways.. battery life is a definitely a concern but from reading the HTC Inspire forums (similar phone which also suffers from a lousy battery) I think we'll be able to figure out ways to extend the battery life. I have a feeling that the "fix" they applied was likely just defaulting a lot of the settings to conserve power.

I'm surprised at the amount of TB followers who have waited all this time and are now just giving up last minute to get an end of life phone or inferior phone on another network instead. Everyone is misconstruing the VZW corp guy's statements. He said LTE phones within first half of year, not end of Q2. He was very vague, I think people are overreacting. At CES they said Q1 for the TB. I am confident it will come out the 17th, or the 24th at the latest, but of course anything is still possible. There is no way this phone gets pushed to summer, not nearly as many people would buy it then due to all the competition. I don't think the Stealth will come out before the TB, plain and simple. If the TB is having battery issues still (which supposedly have been fixed), it is because of the network connection (not the phone itself), and this would affect the Stealth or any other LTE phone too. Johnboy in the Demo thread has been getting pretty good battery life using his TB on 3G and WiFi. Commercials, accessories, pre-orders, HTC CEO said they were shipping, BMX says its a go, etc. We will see it very shortly.

Also, I do think that Apple has a little something to do with it, although it is a combination of other things too that have made this the fiasco it is. They had to give iPhone its time to shine first, so that put the TB to the side. More recently they announced the iPad2, further pushing back the TB another week or two. Verizon can only concentrate on so many big releases at once. Also, it has been rumored than they took some of the network engineers off the LTE project to beef up the 3G network in anticipation for the iPhone, and neglected to complete final preparations on the LTE network in time. Hopefully they have been back hard at work figuring out how to correct whatever the issue is, and the network will be ready in time for a TB release next week.

I think you may have hit the nail partially on the head. I think the LTE system is the problem and I think that VZW is pushing it with trying to get the new system in place and new phones that play nice with the system so quickly.

This is why I come to the forums to keep some phone sanity I think ill just root incredible and start from scratch that should hold me over, right?
