HTC Thunderbolt Release Date

Just checked one of the local BB's in my area and the reps have nothing in their system showing a due date for the Bolt. They even let me see the screen of what they had listed and all there was were entries for pre-orders and nothing more. They said they have no idea when it will arrive. Thursday is looking bleak at best.

Those two guys are full of it miami and blackmanx if it does come out thursday which is doubtfull it won't come from there inside info, an educated guess at best. From the beginning the earliest was the 10th and that was a long shot, than the 17th came and went now the 24th. That date from the beginning was the most relavant since it was the end of the month and about the same time as the Xoom which is in no way in competition with the thunderbolt unless it makes calls and can fit in your pocket! Actually makes sense that you would get more people in the stores for the bolt also looking at the XOOM.

There is obviously a problem with something in the phone and it;s not skype. An educated guess by reading the blogs would be with the switchover from 3 to 4g causing dropped calls, that is a big deal and they need to know that is working properly. Verizon does not need to launch a device that the first feedback from customers is DROPPED CALLS. That is by far the worse thing that could happen. Thee IPhone recieved many bad reviews for the antenna problem and that was apple not HTC who has had there fair share of issues in the past.

People are calling this a flagship device lol.... it doesn't even have the droid logo on it and will be upstaged by the Bionic in a very short time. All the attention with the Thunderbolt is drawing the attention away from the bionic which most likely is having the same issues with the switching, once the Thunderbolt is released the Bionic willl be right behind it. Remember the Atrix is the same basically as the Bionic..... OK not exactally the same I know the specs but that will ne the flagship for a little while anyway!

Oh no. Oh no no.

So, exactly who are you to discredit those who have proven themselves to be reliable sources before? Are you in a position to disprove either of them? Please, supply your evidence. Exactly what world do you live in where a company ships out devices that have the problems you seem you have information about?

How does the bionic really upstage this? A dual-core that can't be utilized as of now? A locked bootloader that will actually keep it slower than a custom kernel OCed thunderbolt? The droid brand name? The network is new. The tb will be the only one on 4G for a time. This to me(and all others with logic) is a flagship device.

the thunderbolt isn't a droid? now i'm confused...

It is an Android phone, but it is not a "droid" like the Droid X, or the Droid Incredible.

this might be a bad question since i'm on my second droid phone... and it's an incredible... but what's the difference? can't it do what the incredible can do and then some?

You are right. There is no difference in functionality. The Droid name is just branding. It will be called the HTC Thunderbolt rather than the Droid Thunderbolt.

so basically it's a droid but doesn't have droid in the name? i don't see a problem with that. as long as it does what the incredible can do and then some i'll check it out the day it's released and do a lot of thinking from there.

"Android" is the name of the Google OS. "Droid" is a Verizon brand name (licensed from Lucas Arts) that they give to their phones. That's all.

Folks we really need to keep this civil. No flaming or this thread will get closed.

this is the thread that never ends.. it goes on and on my friend..

Ok back to topic.. own personal belief is 24th can still happen. They can certainly launch a silent launch. Then hit the advertising hard and the stores will already be in stock and ready to go.. Nothing wrong with that.. but of course in reality this is the first 4G LTE device from Verizon.. why would they go into it silent? Either way 24 something will go down for sure. Either date given out or TB in hand.. we will see..

What credible information have they released? I have not seen any and have been around here for awhile and was following them on twitter I called them out once when one was supposed to have the tbolt and a white IPhone which has been a fairy tail from the begining why would they release a white Iphone4 when the 5 is coming out in a few months? If you read the blogs on other sites than there has been whispers about the switching well maybe a little more than whispers. The Droid brandname has been the flagship devices of Verizon since the inception of the Android operating system in Verizon, they have not halted the use of the name since the Bionic has been Branded Droid it has nothing to do with Motorola it is Verizon's way of naming these devices. I have not heard any reasion for the thunderbolt not carrying the name, have you?

I understand the the locking out the Bionic is a pain but it;s only a period of time probably before it's released that someone smarter than I figures out how to root one. I must tell you I am not a big fan of motorolla and look fwd to a phone that is better sold by Verizon. HTC has made great strides and they already have anounced a bunch of new phones since the CES. The longer this takes the closer that something better will be right around the corner. The issue as it is or was with skype andd the switching is software not hardware related and would be taken care of during the initialization of the phone and I do know what I am talking about and I have no wish of making statements that I can't probve since it would probbably get me fired. P.S. Don't look for it on the 24th that is a fact!

They've been right before, that is a fact. Previous correct forecasting kind of gives them the benefit of the doubt. I trust them, but if you don't, please refrain from supplying us with "facts".

OT- not trying to flame you, you're entitled to an opinion, but someone less tolerant than I will hijack this thread and get is closed if you put them off as facts.

If you go buy a Verizon Keyosk you will see some stuff delivered by Fedex if you get them to open them up its the signage for the XOOM and the bolt alot of the stores have them already and are just waiting the go word and that hasn't been decided yet. The reason for the Keyosk thing is they tend to leave the fedex stuff out where as the stores have more room and its inside a cardboard container anyway you cant see what it is. The phones are locked away but the signage is usually sitting there in a fedex package. That is all I can say and they are facts.

Please try to tone down. All you are doing is flaming the fire. There are no "facts" from Verizon, we will get those in the next day or so. We know the phone is coming and from all accounts and sources the phone is on target to release on the 24th. Please lets refrain from name calling or calling people out, it is not productive and only causes further frustration.

What have they been right about? I don't care if you listen or not or flame me or whatever. If you work for Verizon and one of them says he does the info he has released would have gotten him fired, The trips and where he was aka superbowl and across the pond ight before along with his usage of the two phones would have narrowed it down considerably. This would have gotten him fired! The store managers and employees are threatened with this constantly let alone upper management.

No flame. You have made your point. Just need things to cool down. When this phone does release, I want to be able to come to this thread and celebrate with the rest of the gang who have been posting here. Lets keep this thread alive!
