HTC Droid Incredble Android 2.2 Update Released

ATTN: Droid Incredible Owners, get ready for the update everyone has been talking about. Our friends over at Droid-Life have posted a screen shot showing confirmation the update should begin rolling out OTA (Over the Air) Friday August 27th. We have also been informed Verizon has updated the Incredible's product page to include the device is now shipping with Android 2.2. Nothing better then a release like this to start your weekend.

• Additional support for Backup AssistantSM PIN retrieval for new accounts.
• Play Visual Voicemail messages through speakers when connected to Bluetooth® car kit.
• Keep track of music with organized Music Player application.
• Updated People application to accommodate contacts with Facebook accounts.

no it's rumored that it should start rolling out on the 27th (which should be today for half of the country). But its a RUMOR, Verizon hasn't officially stated the official date its going to be sent to everyone's phone. and if it does come out on the 27th it might take a couple of days to reach your phone.

I'm really hoping that it comes out today(27th) and only takes a couple of days to reach my phone.

I think they will offer the update available for download. The website just hasn't been updated yet. (that I know of)

And mercifully, it will put an end to the questions... quite frankly, I'm one of those who hoped for it sooner since I just got the Incredible and the autoupdate is 200% necessary for saving your sanity. I don't know about the X, which I am sure is great, but the Incredible with the extended 3500mAh battery is fantastic as is the built in software. Don't know what Droid 2 is like but I was not impressed with Droid 1, even on Froyo. Looking forward to downloading it from someone who has it.

Loaded 2.2 . Took ruffly 15 minutes. First impression noticeably quicker browsing.720 p camera is great . Haven t used everything.

I just told my 2.1 phone to check for updates, and it says I'm up to date.
So how does this work? Do I just wait my turn and they will eventually zap me with a message to update?

My update just appeared at 841am. Had a choice to install now or later. As I understand Verizon rolling out in waves over the next few days. Don't know how it works whether it is geographic or when you got the phone. I got my phone in April, 3 days after it was introduced

I got my Incredible 2 days before it even came out and I have yet to get the update so I don't think it has to do with when you got the phone
