I think what you're asking can only be done with a 3rd party home replacement app like ADW or LauncherPro.

ya im tlkin bout the one on the home screen.. lik i was jus wonderin if there was a way to change what they do?? lik it would make sense to b able to put lik msm instead of the settings button on the right

Launcherpro or ADW are your only options, unless you put a custom ROM on.

I was thinking the same. Drives me crazy to have the useless "personalize" button there. I never use it.
