Hornyworm.apk issue

Ever so often my wife's S4 has a popup (sometimes even when waking from sleep) that shows the green android and it states that the phone has received a virus called "Hornyworm.apk". Below there is a bar to click to "install an antivirus" to fix the problem. Some researching indicates that it is probably caused by an app. I realize you don't want to click on the bar, but does anyone know which app (if that is the case) needs to go?

Never heard of or seen this. Try downloading a well known and secure antivirus, Malwarebytes is pretty good, and see if it picks up anything.

Also if your wife could narrow down the apps she's downloaded recently she could delete them by process of elimination, but then again the damage may have already been done.

If you Google it, you'll find lots of hits, but most are conjecture or guesses. Most say the bar you click on takes you to a legit antivirus, but it's real expensive. I asked wife about recent apps and she said she hadn't downloaded anything recent.

I have a kindle fire hd and I have this virus because my cousin was looking at a weird porn site. I have asked for help from customer service and am awaiting a reply. I think this is the only way you can get this virus, dirty. I am furious, but well, I'll just have to wait and see. I downloaded several antivirus Apps, but it says my kindle is clean. I hope I get a reply soon, and when I do,I will post the solution or answer very soon.
