After several requests to change the read background color, I have darkened it considerably but not black, there is no way to tell the difference in new and old messages if all backgrounds are black... but it is only a VERY slight difference.....

This installs to /system. If you have trouble installing over your current version, just delete that one and then flash my zip....

Enjoy..........

BlackedOutGmail.zip

Fixed to better show difference for read and unread messages... there is a clear difference now, for some reason the pic doesn't show it?? Trust me, its good now.....

This has been confirmed to work on the DINC....

Can you post up a screenshot w/your message list w/some unread messages so we can see the contrast?

The second screen shot shows that already.

Nice work ec!! Getting ready to load this now!

I guess it does. Couldn't even see it when I was looking for it so that's not going to be enough contrast for me. Guess I'll just stick with what I have for now.

Very subtle distinction, still I can't complain that it isn't black enough :) the unread messages are slightly more bold, I will give this a go and see if it is usable. Very happy though, thanks.

Well I don't get the whole concept of why all black, but why not make the unread a very dark gray??????

There is a slight color difference in the read and unread text. The screenshots look nothing like it does on the phone....

Sent just before I "Blacked Out"

Ok, after some use and input from others, I am going to lighten the read text more to create more distinction between the two.. I will hopefully have it posted tonight...

That would have my interest. Also, once you're done you may want to edit the first post to show the screenshots so those who open the thread for the first time see them right away.

I agree that the distinction between read and unread needs to be more visible.
I think the gray would be good. I'm glad you plan on updating it.

Is there a way to invert the actual messages, while you are reading them?

Thanks for all the Blackouts!

How are you compiling this? Decompiling seems to work great but when i recompile (with apktool 1.3.1) I get:

when i use apktool 1.3.2 it compiles fine but FCs when installed. If i knew the secret I may be of some assistance.
