It is the stock gmail app so it should work, I just don't know if the update.zip is compatible? Give it a try, wont hurt....

You will need to make sure that there are no versions in /data, if there is, it will look at that one instead of mine. Just uninstall that one, then install mine.....

I have read that it has and hasn't worked on the X, give it a try, won't hurt...

Just make a backup first!

Ok...got it on the X...but doesn't install via Clockwork...

Ok...using Root Explorer:
-open the BlackedOutGmail.zip...in it you will find a few folders.
-Open the folder "app"...extract Gmail.apk (It should extract to "sdcard/extracted")
-Go into this folder, copy the file Gmail.apk.

Go into system/app and find Gmail.apk
-rename it to Gmail.bak
-now paste the gmail.apk you extracted and copied. Then change the permissions to match the Gmail you just renamed.
Reboot.

This worked for me...let me know...:)

I tried doing this but then got a message stating application not installed. What am I doing wrong? It is in the data/app folder as com.google.android.gm-1.apk but not in the /app folder.

You did reboot before attempting to open, right?

Thanks for the app, it works great! I would like to make a request though. You have everything blacked out, compose, reading individual emails.

Thanks again

Running with d1Miui 1.1.7 p3LV250-1250 kernel
