Gingerbread PEOPLE!

Ok so I download the update, install and now I'm on .596 running smooth. Say by the time the OTA hits us early June it's .598 or .601, how can I uninstall .596 and return to froyo so that I can install the official Verizon OTA?

If there IS another after. 596, there will be a way to upgrade to it, unless you are on a custom ROM. The leaks/updates are always directed within a day or two (look at this leak right now, for example)

My system update option is dimmed out and wont let me select it! Yeah im one of those people who are waiting for the update. I seem to have a special DX that can't be rooted :(

Never heard of that one man. Strange. That being said, every X can be rooted and modified. Do you want to recieve the OTA over the air(unrooted)or root it with the official build P3Droid released Saturday?

I tried the apk root and z4root both failed several times.. the apk method install the terminal and titanium backup and said it was rooted but it was a no go. I would love to root. (I build and repair computers for a side buisness so im not a total noon)

No, DX. I just used that example to show I'm aware of the file extension issues, where the update needs to be located, etc.

Finding, opening, verifying...

E: signature verification failed
Installation aborted

Only thing I can think of is root would be doing that... Why don't u try sbf to froyo then give another try...

Blech. I'll wait for the OTA. I'm not well versed in all that SBF mumbo-jumbo. I did it once when I had my D1 and I fumbled through it. My DX is straight stock, never rooted. I thought I'd cut a corner with Gingerbread, but oh well.

Thanks for the help though.
