First Look at New HTC/Verizon World Phone

AndroidGuys.com has just received exclusive photos of a new HTC Android phone that will not be released by Verizon til 2011. The Verizon-branded prototype also included a Vodaphone SIM card, indicating that it will run on both CDMA and GSM networks.

Hardware specs include a 4" screen, 4-row sliding qwerty keyboard, and it is speculated to run a 1.2 Ghz processor. However, this was clearly an early build and specs may change by the time it launches. If a launch of early 2011 is accurate, it should be running at least Android 2.2 at launch.

As you can see, the phone is just about the same size as an EVO, but with a slightly smaller screen.

These exclusive photos were provided to AndroidGuys.com by ADroidian, who runs AndroidSwag.com and is one of the organizers of The Big Android BBQ.

I really like how the physical keyboard is in a receded platform allowing the keys to be in a raised position, maybe this will be the new standard for slide out physical keyboards

HTC already created the best physical keyboard yet for a phone with the Touch Pro 2. This one looks like a major step down. I don't care if adds to the thickness by a few millimeters, if they put the Touch Pro 2 keyboard in there, they've got a guaranteed purchase from me. Luckily this one is reported to be a prototype, so hopefully they make some improvements on it.

ima be paying attention to this. If its android, and has a nice processor i may be in.

I hoping that sim magically changes to a LTE sim card. That and that the keys get a tad bit bigger.

as other posters said, i hope this would be an LTE-capable device... and it is packing something better than a 1ghz Snapdragon.

but for a prototype, this is a very intriguing device

looks nice. No mention of a front facing camera a though. I would really like to see Verizon take the plunge with the Front facing camera.

Yea, am looking forward to see what kind of camera it ends up with, if any.

On a plus note, the colors match DF :D

Looks nice except for the keyboard with the tiny keys. With keys that small, they could have added a dedicated number row.

I agree there. While I like this phone, my old Voyager had a better keyboard.
+1 on the Voyager keyboard. My big clunky thumbs suited well to that keyboard. Although I've become used to the Droid1 kb...it's still not as nice.

Loved the voyager keyboard...

And I think the tiny keys are actually better then bigger ones and I think it was done on purpose. The way they have it set up I think it will be much easier to differentiate one key from the one next to it, do you really want bigger keys just so its pushed up against the one next to it?

Also wondering why there is a menu button on keyboard.

Still, they could have (and still might become this way) spread them out more and made them a tad bit bigger.
