FCC Rules That Verizon Cannot Charge For 4G Tethering - Slashdot
So.. what does this mean? I am not a lawyer, but I see these following possibly playing out in various ways..
1. If you use enough data, you'll get downgraded to 3G automatically and suddenly they CAN enforce the wifi tethering policy on you.
2. Slow you down so much that it will be completely useless after a certain cap(or maybe if they can determine you are tethering).
3. Verizon will not install 4G in places where wifi tethering is used regular, so they can enforce their wifi tethering policy on you.
4. Cancel your policy if you use too much wifi tethering.
There's a couple more I can think of, but I'll leave it at those. I'm sure Verizon isn't going to sit on the sidelines and let all of their customers get "free" wifi tethering after all the money they've gotten from charging for tethering. I'm sure the comments at slashdot.org will give plenty of other options for Verizon to mess with their customers.
