Extra tasks running...

I run Advanced Task Killer, and everytime I do, there are so many apps running, some I dont run myself. But even after I kill all tasks I do it again moments later and there just as many or more running again.. Do others have this problem? Is it draining my battery? Is there anything I can do? Would love some advice, thanks.

Yes, it IS killing your battery. Every time you kill all those tasks you think shouldnt be running, your phone has to restart them all back up, because it NEEDS them running. Uninstall that task killer, and if your phone starts bogging down, reboot it.

i guess i just dont understand why like facebook, my fantasy football app, and other random apps like that just start up...

They are just waiting for something to come to them.

If you use a tool like "System" (in the market) it will tell you the CID of the program and let you know how much CPU time it is using. Most of the time (unless its a bad app) it won't have any time used if you haven't specifically clicked or accessed it. You have to remember these are social phones so they will have those things running by default to keep you updated.

Ha yeah. Ironically enough task killers themselves use up phone power. Don't bother with 'em. Incredible, at least, has a native program to view and terminate apps. But the phone does indeed run a lot of stuff it needs. But I have yet to experience slowdown or hangs with normal use.
