Greetings,

So, I downloaded over OTA the 4.1.1 / 9.1.41 JB update without any issues. I'm not rooted and the phone is stock.

I wanted to go into Recovery to clear the cache so I did the following

Powered off the phone
Held down the Power/Volume UP/Volume DOWN keys until the menu appeared
Selected Recovery using Volume DOWN from the list and then hit Volume UP

A green Android dude with a open chest plate and a red triangle with a exclamation point appears

View attachment 58867

Normally at this point I would hit the Volume UP+Volume DOWN and the Recovery menu would appear. But, no matter what buttons I hit the Android dude stares at me.

Eventually the phone re-boots and everything works fine. It's just that I got in the habit of clearing the cache every so often and it feels a little strange not being able to do so.

Thanks in advance

Hit both volume keys at the same time at that screen. Works for me.

MacPro88,

Well...I did hold onto the Volume UP+Volume DOWN keys a bit longer as you suggested....

...and the menu came back up and asked me where I wanted to go

Just wierd

I have the same problem......no matter how long I hold them down, nothing. How long is long enough?

Ok.....

So, I thought that if I removed my MicroSD card it might work. Well, it did.

But.....I noticed that the Recovery menu came up when I released the volume UP/volume DOWN keys.

So, I put the MicroSD back in and after a couple tries I could get into the Recovery menu.

It just seems like the recovery menu in ICS came up while the volume keys were depressed.

Hey guys, on JB you have to hold volume down and then tap volume up to enter recovery when you see the dead android. ;)

To be clear GoCliffGO means to continue to hold the vol down while you tap the vol up button once. I had to try this a few times to figure it out. Thanks Cliff!
