Dropped my droid...

I dropped my 5 day old Droid and every corner is scuffed/gouged.......I have insurance.....I know this sounds bad but any chance of getting a replacement?

If the phone still works keep it. If you go through insurance you will get a recertified phone which in my personal experience tend to have issues

Not here. Talk to Verizon.

This is making me feel much better about having bought a case. I am so terrified that I am going to drop the phone!:icon_eek:

As others have said, if the phone is still working perfectly, you may want to keep it. Ask the insurance what qualifies for a replacement and whether they replace your phone with a brand new one or a refurbished phone.

And then buy a silicone/rubber case and a screen protector. :icon_wink:

Trust me its terrible, I dropped my iPhone several times but never this kind of damage....I'm just hoping someone at my Verizon store will take pity on me and help me out

Presuming the insurance you have is the Asurion, then Verizon is not involved. You deal directly with Asurion. That said, I have heard of instances where stores have opted to replace damaged phones, probably listing them as a warranty return. Note that some Verizon retailers offer better insurance than Asurion - just got such coverage for my son's Droid.

I agree with the poster that said not to return if it is functional. Most Asurion replacements are refurbished and as I can personally attest, they reskin it, briefly test it, and send it out, often with problems. Also, you only get so many Asurion replacements before they drop you. Lastly, Asurion reportedly tries their best to fit each claim into one of their many exclusions. Lastly, if Asurion does not have a droid on hand their policy states that they will substitute a similar phone - no telling what that may be.

Yeah if you have the extra insurance I do believe the deductible for smartphones is 100 dollars. Regular cell phones was 50. But if it still works keep it a phone will inevitably get some scratches no matter how hard you try. I do suggest a case:)

If it were me. I would take it back in to VZW for exchange if possible

I understand why you are saying this, but I'll tell you, it annoys me.

This guy dropped the phone. His fault six ways to Sunday and he only has COSMETIC issues with the phone.

Personally, I would be monumentally pissed if Verizon gave him a new phone.

Why?

Who do you think is paying for his ineptitude? Well that would be anyone who purchases a Droid through Verizon! So most of us!

HE dropped it.

HIS phone still works.

WE are all paying for his trade in.

Meh.

Or worse.....I got a replacement for a broken LG a few years ago. I was all excited about the "new" phone until I found a home made porn video left behind from the previous owners.

Asurion told me to get lost, Verizon was more accomodating to my concerns.
