Droid2 A955 needs AOSP love. Suggestions?

I have an OG Droid running Pete's GPA17 and I love it. Its fast and does everything I want, except play all the latest games (224 or 256MB RAM sucks)
My question: Is there an AOSP or Source Built or Port of Pete's GPA17 for the Droid 2 out there? Something no frills with a non blur interface and minimal background apps? I currently have LGB Installed, but it has too many options.

edit: And by play the latest games, I mean play Plants Vs Zombies. My D2 will load and play PvZ but my D1 will not.

CM7 is AOSP. Apex is AOSP-like.

Apex looks like what I want, do I need to SBF between LGB and Apex or just wipe wipe wipe?
CM has always turned me off, I loath custom boot screen animations and they always replace the launcher with non stock.
The one thing I do enjoy about LGB is the Motorola Torch Widget and the ability to access Torch from the pull down menu.

You need to flash the GB leak, then Apex.
