I printed out the page from Dell showing the $119 sale price and they honored it at Best Buy. They were also able to look up the phone there, but he took my printed page as proof. this was on Saturday 11/28

styleznma,

I work for an Authorized Retailer and we get people like you into our stores all the time. They have it engraved in their minds that we are a rip off and we can't do anything. The thing is, you get what you pay for. Their are good reasons why the phone is cheaper at walmart, bestbuy, wirefly. etc.. For instance, Best Buy, these people work with not only Verizon but also with Tmobile, Sprint and AT&T. They just know the basics of each network, so when they put you on a plan, they can utterly screw up your account and then you spend more time on the phone with 611 trying to figure out what went wrong when you get your first bill. They also only have a 15 day return period where they will charge you a restocking fee and hassle you even if u didn't ever touch your phone.

Wal Mart has super weird 3rd party agreements to where if you change anythign at all on your contract within 6 months they will charge you with the full retail price of the phone. They also are known for selling refurbished and certified pre owned phones that the warranty will only last for 3 months instead of year on a brand new device. Plus they are the same at Best Buy except that the employee might have been selling underwear one day and now is selling phones.

Firefly.com has horrendous reviews due to sending out broken phones, not refunding back your money when sent in and giving people a super hard time to do anything. They remind me of these ads that say "free sample just pay 1.00 shipping" and in the terms and conditions "100 will be placed on your card once ordered" and once you find out that they charged you that money, it is to late. you then have to deal with there horrible customer service and return the merchandise exactly to the dot in order to get your refund.

Heck, even ordering phones online can be a hassle. What they fail to tell you is that when you buy online that there will be a charge to transfer your files over i.e. pics, contacts, sms, ringtones and etc.. There is also a fee if you get a smart phone to get it set up in a store.

Even though we are a "fake V store" we are known for offering great customer service. When you buy a phone from me, I make sure that it is exactly the phone for you and that you know how to use the phone. I also give the customer my personal cell phone number incase they have any questions.

So yes, it is cheaper to buy from Best Buy, Wal Mart, Costco, Sams Club, Firefly, Verizon.com, there are many reasons why you should consider going into a store to pick up your phone.
-You don't have to wait for it to come into the mail.
-If it is broken you have to order another one and deal with waiting even longer for your phone.
-You can get all of your stuff transferred in the store for free.
-You can get your phone set up in the store for free.
-If you have any warranty problems, you can swap it out in the store.
-You have 30 days instead of 15 and it's not definite about the restocking fee.

Just take these things into consideration when purchasing a phone next time.

Oh and also, both of our corporate stores are notorious for employees being rude and speedy with customers. So my 'fake V store" has made many upon many people happy and they no longer goto the corporate stores.

Actually, if you order from Verizon.com you CAN take it into a Verizon store and exchange it.

I don't deal with "authorized" retailers. Know why? If you screw me over, I only have you to make it better. If a VZW store screws me over i have their manager, customer service, escalated customer service, supervisors and an executive office that I can use to remedy my situation. I have leverage with them - a contract.

x2. I learned my lesson going to "Authorized Retailers". They are more expensive, they can only give me 10% of my 25% off (Wells Fargo Employee discount), and their customer service is normally sub-par.

I only go to full Verizon stores now.

Which they are making much easier for us. Four new stores have opened in the last year by me - all within a 10 mile radius. And of course, my favorite - two blocks from my office! :)

Loyal to VZW Stores - mikey

Called 611

I just got my droid 11-27, and $80 is just that $80 back to me. I am an existing customer and was eligible for an upgrade at the time of purchase. Paid $320, and have not yet mailed the rebate because I am trying it out. I called V about this, and they are sending a credit request to managment for me. I will know in around 3 days if I get the $80 back on my account. It is terrible to find out that I could have saved such a large amount just by buying from someone other than Verizon because I have been a faithfull customer for over 15 yrs.
The only problem I am seeing with the Moto droid now is... that my yahoo email will not load and sometimes the phone will go to silent mode automatically.

rosesdroid, there is a thread here with some settings and a link to a youtube video to watch. it works perfectly for me now after using the settings shown. And as evryone else says, skip the wifi and us the network only when you are trying to set everything up.

Sorry to go off topic, but there is a fix.

Well, a quick phone call to Verizon telling them about the $119 deal at Dell got me 10% off my bill for the next 6 months and 50 additional overtime minutes (probably never use those).

After getting mine from them last week for $149 ($199 minus $50 off for primary line phone upgrade) plus a $60 promo credit on the next bill for renewing my contract nets my Droid at $89 before the new stuff. After this call (6 months x $13 credit = $78 credit), some quick math tells me I now got my Droid for around $11.. I'm Happy :-)

Thanks to those who posted about the $119 Dell deal, I owe you a beer !!!

I went to a local VZ store and they said that they do not honor employee discounts as that's only for the service and not hardware. I am still in my 15 day grace period and have a week left to return it which I'm tempted to do and go to Dell! They will charge me a $30 restocking fee but becuase the woman had such an attitude I'm tempted to do it!

If you bought it between Nov 15th-Dec 15th, Verizon is offering an exchange or return till Jan 13th. Thats what they told me... found out when I bought my car charger from them online.

So just to make extra sure, i can print out the dell page which states the droid is $129.99 and go to bestbuy and let them price match it? Then i can just buy the phone and tell them that i don't want to change my plan?
