I don't need a NON-smartphone. I'm going back to my low maintainance blackberry in which I had NO issues with~ I've had nothing but stress from this Droid. Waste of money!

And that link didn't help. I'm not trying to transfer from my PC to my phone. I went to the Verizon site and signed in, then purchased the ringtone. It went as a text message to my phone but I can't get it to SET as the ringtone. With my blackberry, all I had to do was press ONE button..SET AS RINGTONE..VIOLA!!!
But with this piece of SH**, I can't do that! It's ridiculous!!!!

Sorry, I know you are all trying to help, but it's just the Droid is NOT for me. My friend bought one too and she isn't liking it either...so at least I'm not alone.

Yea I'm sorry. When you tap on it to play it can you hold down on it to bring up options? Like a long press? Or hit your menu key with the 4 squares on your bottom left?

I've never bought one from them so I don't know. Other thing you can try is hit your 4 square button for options, go to settings and open sounds. Then go to ringtone and pick sounds from android and see if they added the file there.

you said you were able to play it, correct? well play it again, and when your music app opens (assuming you are using the stock music player, press the menu button and select "use as ringtone".

but if you are having this much trouble with a ringtone, then yeah, i would suggest you go back to a blackberry.

also check media/audio/ringtones on your card.

another place would be, System/media/audio/ringtone on the phone itself. if you have a file manager like Astro, you will find these folder in there.

Call Verizon or go by a store and get your $2.99 (ridiculous) credit for that ringtone, then go to your market and install the actual Vcast Tones app, do a search for Halloween, find the cackling tone, buy it again, and guess what...the APP asks you if you want to set it as the default ringtone! Ding ding!! Droid DOES after all! :dancedroid:
Sorry, I haven't bought a ringtone in years! $2.99 for a ringtone is absurd though IMO!

I have to agree with her as I went to mycast and sent the piggy ringtone to my phone and saved to sd card but couldn't find it. Searched the entire sd card and it just wasn't there.

I was however able to send it to my computer and then move it to my card via usb. Yes there are apps that do this for you automagically :) but it is a big pain in the ass from the old days when you could send yourself a ringtone in text and save it as whatever. Luckily I am familiar enough to get it to the phone but dangit I wanted the wee wee wee pigggy for my ringer. And only found it on the geico website.

Still droid x is best phone I have ever had

Yes I found that it is possibly a handcent issue with not saving media as I tried this way for another file this morning. It does work and saves the file fine.

But also proves a point it is tedious to say the least where with my old vx8300 I could do it all in two clicks.

Still love the phone but the point is still there.

I dont like handcent but that is my preference

yes I know things are getting more complicated as technoligy is getting more and more advanced. there is gotta be a point where its got to stop. I don't see old technoligy staying so you going to have to learn to keep up with time. somethings will work for some and may not work for the other. I personally love my phone but I am a geek who loves to tinker with stuff.

just keep tinkering around with the phone and you soon love it. you just need to learn your ways around. or you could just use the phone as what it is a phone.

I agree! I guess it also depends on the "media" one receives too. I've had not issue at all saving pictures and images for example. I will agree that these phones DO lack some of the more simple tasks that others do with ease. Like sending a voice recording via MMS message. If its longer than 30 seconds, email is pretty much your only option. Aggravating? Yes! Deal breaker? No!
