Buy the TB now or wait for the Bionic or SG2?

I would get a contract in place to ensure unlimited data, just to be on the safe side.

sent from my bolt
Only reason why I bought the TB. I'll buy a bionic or something later on and have my unlimited 4G locked in.

That's assuming that you'll get grandfathered in w/ your 4g. I've never bought a phone from ebay and I'm a bit skeptical w/ so many of them on there. People mention clean esn number but I'm not exactly sure what that means.

My contract is up in August. If I bought a t'bolt on ebay and had it activated but then used my upgrade later this year for something else I wonder if I'd still be grandfathered in when adding a new phone because I would be agreeing to a new contract

How much would you pay for a thunderbolt on ebay? I see they range anywhere from $650 down to $100

Clean ESN means the phone is not stolen. I think it also means that the phone is not currently under someone else's contract. I would only buy from reputable dealers on ebay.

Thanks Stelv. I cheked it out and there are 2 for sale. I think ebay might be the best place to get one since it's more trusted site.

cirt, thanks. Heck, Anyone can say it's got a clean esn. Do you know what would happen if I got one that was stolen? Would I get my $ back or would I be screwed? I don't buy much on ebay so I don't know.

I appreciate the help guys

I think ebay has buyers protection. You may want to check into that. Also you can email swappa about this too. I have never bought off of swappa, but I have sold 2 devices there. I have bought many things off of ebay, including my Fascinate. Only look at devices from top rated sellers and check their feedback to see what previous customers have said. And make sure the ESN is clean for sure.

If the seller is serious and legit, they'll give you the ESN and you can confirm with VZW.

Yes, as long as you use PayPal on ebay you are protected for up to like two grand I think. I've been buying and selling on ebay for ten years and never had a problem, just always check the seller's rating, anything below about 90% might be trouble. And don't buy from someone who only has like 5 total sales. The higher the number of sales the better.

My dad got a droid charge a few days ago and when he activated it the plan changed to 4G automatically.

WOW Sweet! So I could wait as long as I want, get a TB and activate it on my grandfathered unlimited plan without having to sign up for tiered pricing!

I hope so because im planning on getting TB soon as well.

You'll probably have to go in VZW and get a new SIM card if you're buying it used, I did. But as far as the 4G yeah when they activate it, it will switch, and you'll have the unlimited mobile hotspot... for a few days.

Buy one on the 6th, lock in your unlimited 4g, and use it until it falls apart! lol then buy your quad core snapdragon or whatever is out in 2.5 years, keep your unlimited data and get a real beast.

2.5 years!? The temptations of technology will make most people want a new device every year.

I just want a phone that doesn't lag, has good battery, good screen, hdmi and is dependable. Is there a phone out right now that meets those requirements?

No need to buy a 4g phone before the 7th because Verizon is treating 3g the same as 4g so we will all be grandfathered in

Just asked VZ rep today, they just did the tiered price training, and they told me if I "currently" have an unlimited data plan with a smartphone, I can upgrade to unlimited 4g even after July 7th. I'm still skeptical, but I guess I can hold out till the Bionic/SG2 come out. I just hope VZ doesn't change last minute.....

I just gave in and got the tb and have no regrets...plus if definitely don't trust verizon on still letting everyone upgrade to unlimited once tiered pricing is there... I think that it would be safer to upgrade keep unlimited and then later when even better phones come out and just buy them out of pocket
