Bionic wont work outside or in the sun

Hey all im not new to these phones had the t bolt and waites for the bionic but i tries to use it at work and it went black after i unlocked it after that i blocked the sensor with my thumb and i can unlock it im thinkibg the senor is to sensitve can anyone help
