Best way to poll email...

I have alot of customers come in and they have msn or hotmail or other types of emails. Most of the time they say that the phone won't give them email notifications. I use g mail so I'm not certain with other email providers. Any help

I've noticed some issues with the default email client not updating pop3 accounts despite settings to check every 15 minutes. Unfortunately, without a real fix done so far, the only solution I've used is to use the K9 mail app for checking those accounts. It's worked spectacularly well so far.
