Thanks for your help! Already rooted, letting the phone charge up before OTA 893. I will definitely be looking into OTA Root Keeper!

Is there a way to verify that you have the 43V3R ROOT hack active on your phone? I know the script says it's been applied, but I don't know if I should believe it.

Well, do you have a root only application, use the application and if it works root is working.

After I update, I just use Root Checker. But I was thinking more along the lines of "let me know before I have another day like today" assurance, :D

yes, im still rooted.. its a beautiful thing!

I rooted while on 5.5.893, I bought CWM and backed up my phone.. I then bought Titanium backup pro, and froze the bloat, and backed up again...

I allowed OTA to update, then while on 5.9.902, I checked root, all was good, so I backed up again.. I can go back to 5.5.893 anytime I wish..If I don't like 5.9.902.. It is good to have a good plan..

This is absolutely the best rootable phone to have... hands down...

There is a easier way to Root .902 rather then having to revert back and hope forever root works (didn't for me) or rootkeeper works (again didn't for me).

Go and download the Droid 4 exploit that is being called "motofail" from here.

Run the "run" file (sorry window only for now).

I did not make this... only letting people know about it. Hope it helps, it did for me.

Happy Rooting!

actually its for the Bionic as well, which is why it worked...

I opened up the run.bat file and read it...

Code:
echo
[*] Motofail: Universal Motorola Android Root Exploit (Windows version)
echo
[*] by Dan Rosenberg (@djrbliss)
echo
[*]
echo
[*] Tested on Droid 3, Droid Bionic, Droid RAZR, and Droid 4
echo
[*]

Yes, just ran this new exploit (had lost root going to .902) and can confirm it works on the Bionic. It's nice to have wifitether back.

UPDATE: After updating to 893, I got stuck on fastboot with an Invalid CG message, but used FlashMe Batch file to fix it. When the phone rebooted, I was successfully updated & still rooted. Then I used OTA Rootkeeper, downloaded & installed OTA 902. Install went off without a hitch & root access was retained!

It's nice to know that even when things get incredibly frustrating, the amazing Android community will always come through! :hail:
