Why doesn't autocorrect actually correct things automatically?

I have an S3 and have the Predictive Text activated. However if I misspell a word, it leaves it misspelled. I've had HTC models in the past that would automatically correct a misspelled word, and I would like that feature active on my S3. Is there a way yo set it up so that it just corrects it automatically? Thanks
