How long are you using it during your sessions? I've been thinking about doing it so the wife can do her facebook, and play a game or two on facebook. Thanks guys in advance.

This is cool. With the ps3 being on the mifi, and her facebook she does on her laptop on the phone, it should work at optimial performance.

...soooooo, how is the tethering free? Whenever I try to use it it asks me to sign up for a plan.

okay, I can't really back any of this up.

Tethering is not free. He's talking about the rooted app. I don't have the link with me, but you have to root your phone, then install the wireless tether app and it'll be free.

Ahhh. Okay. I've been using the wired tether app from koush. Still haven't rooted since I've not had a bootlocked phone before. I want to read up really thorough before going through with it. But thanks for clarifying.

I use mine on a tablet, so I can't sue the wired from Koush.

you don't need to be rooted to tether with a cable.

get pda net it will let you tether.

It worked on my thunderbolt without rooting i don't see why it wouldn't work on the razr even though i haven't tried it yet.

Now i will try it when i get home.

Yeah, Pdanet is awesome. I haven't used it on the Rezound yet, but it works like a charm on the D2.

Usb tethering does not require root. Wireless does though.

Can I establish a VPN connection over pda-net (not rooted) using free tethering (without a tethering Verizon Plan)?

Yes I can. Just tried in windows virtual machine on top of Mac osx running vpn anyconnect( vpn in the virtual host only) . It does work and that is cool.

At least I can bring my laptop with me if I'm out to lunch and keep it all going through the phone.

That's great if you have the keyboard for your tablet, but I don't, so I have to use wireless tethering which does require root.
