Text messages "Protect Message" & Updating

So It's almost time the Bionic gets ICS. I've got a conversation that I would like to keep through this update to ICS. Will "Protect Message" keep the text messages and migrate them to ICS?

On a side note, I've tried backup methods for texts and none of them work properly. They end up out of order and some end up missing.

I don't remember any of the updates in the past wiping my texts... Maybe I just forgot?

An official OTA won't wipe any user data at all.

I use SMS Backup/restore when flashing ROMs and wiping data, it will bring them all back but the time stamps will not be correct.
