I just got a samsung captivate a galaxy s phone and I have been looking at all the different apps. I was looking at app killers and I saw someone post in a review that the galaxy s phones had one built in. Is this true? I also saw that once the firmware 2.2 updates (whenever that is) I shouldn't need an app killer or antivirus. I'm still new to this and need some guidance

Android automatically closes apps when you need memory so there's no need for a task killer.

I don't have one and I've never had problems, but I guess it couldn't hurt. Haven't heard too much about them. You can always try a free one out and remove it if it slows your phone down.

Antivirus is a waste of space.

My fascinate has a built in task manager, are you sure the captivate doesn't?

It's a handy tool to have, regardless of the above post. Having apps running in the backgound is a waste of resources and battery.
